I was wondering if its normal for the shell casings on my sgl31 to eject far forward and to the right. My old ak 47 never did that.
Thanks

My SGL31 ejects silver bear to forward and to the right and about 15 feet away.  It's hilarious.

my Mak-90 throws it to about the 2 o'clock position and crazy high, my brass lands 15-20 feet away sometimes

Isn't that a good thing?  If the empty shell casing lands forward of the firing line, the range has to sweep it up after it closes. However if the empty shell casing lands behind the shooter, he has to sweep it up.  Sounds like a great gun.  GARY  N4KVE

my AK ejects forward of the firing line as well

It's correct for an AK to eject forward and up. 20 feet is about right. Your other AK that didn't eject forwards is not running 100% right.

Oh that makes sense. My old ak is a wasr! lol

My WASR ejects brass forward and to the right....into the next county!

If the action on the WASR doesn't feel like it's dragging or sticky when you pull it by hand, then the gas vent might be a bit undersized. Not really a problem worth fixing though. If it runs fine that way, just leave it as is.

Perfectly normal. Just as long as it isn't hitting the topcover.

Yep. If the bullet doesn't kill the bad guy, the concussion from the flying brass will knock them out.

If it does it consistently and reliably, leave well enough alone.

I had seen this a long time ago and liked it. If your rifle is functioning fine I wouldnt mess with it.

Someone had to post this. I don't think this corresponds to the AK, though.

Correct - every gun is different, that is true for an AR. An AK should fire forward-ish, you should not be bouncing brass of the guy next to you.

That chart does not apply to an AK...BUT all AKs are overgassed on purpose...

I count my foreword ejecting sgl31as a win because I don't have to clean up any casings at the public range!

Agreed. I also don't have to worry about pelting the guy to my right with cases. I'd usually bring the WASR and another gun to the range and only bring the WASR out if I could get the rightmost bench or had a mostly empty range.

this chart applies to the ar not the ak.  and a good side note is this chart should NOT be used as the word of god on an ar either.  good reference point but if your ar functions fine and ejects slighty different than the chart then dont worry about.  your ak sounds like its ejecting just fine.  my wasr 10/63 uf will eject brass forward up and about 15 to 20 feet away.

That is for 5.56mm AR15's with case deflectors ONLY and has nothing to do with AK's of any type

With that said it is perfectly normal for your SGL31 to eject at 2:00
