Hey guys

With the extra couple of inches on the VEPR II barrel in the 7.62X39 are there
any considerable accuracy or velocity improvements

thanks

considerable ...

not really, longer sight radius helps a bit, and for the powder load made to burn in 16", the 7.62x39 trajectory will not change in a way you'll notice (20" makes sense for 5.56 version only imho)

I have the 20" version and I am very happy with it. You will get more velocity for sure but as far as accuracy goes the leangth of the barrel at 100 yrds or so will not realy affect your grouping. For example my .308 winchester has a 20" barrel and my Dads Savage has a 24" and they will and have both grouped 5" at 500yrds I just have more drop than him but once you know your gun it does not matter and I doubt very seriosly you will be shooting that far with your Vepr. If I was at the gun store and they had a 16" or a 20" I would probably go with the 16" but I live in the West with lots of open area and like to play with stuff and hope to do some reloads for my 20" and play with it this summer. I have got 2" at 100 when I shot it just as I would my .308. I want to test it at 200 and 300yrds just for fun but I do not expect outstanding results. I will test my .223 16" Vepr also.
