[ARCHIVED THREAD] - why use a scope?

So I am curious I see a lot of people using scopes on an sks. I can group very well at 100-200 yards with the stock sites on mine. Are you guys shooting far or do you just like using them? I never really liked scopes other than for hunting when I know my shot may be farther than I can see well.. They seem to slow my aim down too much.

I use an SKS for deer hunting sometimes, and I mounted a red dot on top of it because of the low light conditions in the morning and afternoons. works great.

makes sense to me. I rarely use that gun for hunting and my eyesight is good still.
