Are you referring to the ones like this??? They should be all over the place...I haven't looked lately but saw some at a local gun show IIRC.

They were all over the place, 10-12 years ago. At 30 bucks a pop. Like everything else surplus, the supply eventually dwindles.

Do the Romy side-folders need a steel pistol grip reinforcement plate? There are apparently two different kinds, one for under-folders, and one for side-folders.

No, Romanian side folder never came with and do not need a PG reinforcement plate. That said, they are always a nice addition to any AK IMHO.
