I've seen the pic you mention, but I think its th other way around, DPMS lower, AR-10 upper. The rear of the upper is radius curved on the DPMS [like AR-15], and AR-10 uses the angles. So a DPMS upper would hit the rear straight part of the AR-10 upper, and the reverse would leave a gap. I looked, couldn't fine the pic... You would have to put an Armalite barrel on the Dpms upper to use the armalite lower and then I think it would work. |

The lowers are magazine specific. The ar10 will only function with the m14 "style" mag which has the feed lips set at a 3 degree off of perpendicular to the magazine body. I have seen ar10 magazines that would fit in some DPMS lowers. They would most likely not work if nothing other than the angled feed lips jamming the rounds into the front of the mag well. The dpms mag will not even fit in the ar10 magwell. As far as barrels, uppers(with some minor mods), bolts/carriers, and most other major components seem to be interchangeable between brands. The other notable exceptions that are brand specific are the barrel nut and some pins, mag catch, and bolt stop in the lowers. |
