Keep in mind i used a 1yr old 24" heavy barrel 1:8 with maybe 1000rds through it tops, and under 100yrds (maybe 75-80yrds).
I was very surprised at how well it grouped. Ill be testing the Black Hills 5.56mm 77gr, and 50gr TSX against the Hornady BTHP 75gr next time out. Maybe i got a lucky box? May have to be at a 60yrd range though.

I have the left handed model 6L. Guns & Ammo did an article on this rifle and they shot several different rounds including the Hornady 75 grn BTHP/Match. With this rifle and ammo at 100 yds it grouped at 0.57 and at 200 yds it grouped at 1.02.
I haven't had a chance to shoot this round because I can only find it online and will have to order some. This is my first AR-15 and my first post on this website. I have learned a lot here and keep coming back for more. |

I forgot to post the link to the article so here it is...

How long ago did you purchase the 75gr superformance? Your results are the exact oppssite of Molons. Must be a conspiracy! ![]() No, more like the difference between 3 or 4 shot groups and 10 shot groups. NO, not really. While Molon shot 10 shots, he didnt even have 2 shots touching, the op has all rounds fired touching While I love Molon's reviews the superformance ammo is match grade ammo, yet he used a standard colt barrel. (because his Krieger barrel is only .223) http://www.box.net/shared/static/3uluzq6quy.jpg Firstly, WHICH 75gr BTHP load are you shooting? Hornady makes like 5 or 6 different loadings of 75gr BTHP ammo. The one in question is the 5.56mm Superformance 75gr BTHP. Here's my experience with the early (T1 bullet) offering of it: 3 shot group:
10 shot group:

Looks like in the last pic you shot a bug (5L). I was shooting 5.56 Varmint BTHP 75gr #81264. So you were shooting the SUPERFORMANCE load? (I guess I should look up the product number but I"m too lazy to do this before submitting my response) On my target, one of the bullets struck the clip clip holding the target to the cardboard backing. No bug this time. Did that during load w/u for my 22-250 though––3 shot one hole group and last shot hit a fly that went and sat on the hole. Similar type of splat but not as big. |

No offense intended but most people, myself included do not feel 3 rounds is a group.
If you can't shoot at least 5 it is not a test. 5 is the minimum group. You are entitled to your opinion I happen to disagree with that having really meaning. 10 round groups are acid test for barrel heat/consistency. Ten one after another is rarely done because we just can't take the disappointment Please redo that with 5 round groups, be a man

I agree with the theme of 3 shots does not establish a credible pattern. I remember sighting in my brother rifle with 55grblack Hills seconds. when done I shot a final group to test and after 8 shots I had a sub MOA group, so I stopped shooting and saved the group. Why? Because I knew this was not honestly representative and at least one of the next two shots would prove it and I didn't want to screw up the group. three shot groups, gives you the ability to fake yourself out. Multiple 3 shot groups are only credible if overlaid and every one is counted.

Hunters have a legitimate case for 3 round groups as they will almost never shoot the second let a lone the third and cold barrel firing is important.
For AR or any military type both to determine what the ammo does and how the barrel changes POA with heat variation 5 rounds after the barrel has been warmed up is more what one might want to know to count on when counting on it matters more than killing paper or when shooting four legged unarmed adversaries. For every 50 three round one hole 200 yard groups I can state never did any of them become 5 round one hole groups, not a one IMO Wulfmann |

Wulfmann I usually only shoot 3-4 rounds of the better ammo each time i go with this particular AR because i only need results for how it shoots cold. Maybe ill spend the day and shoot 5 rounds for a real good test. I have also shot a few boxes of the SUPERFORMANCE load, but i didn't record the results, but they were similar when shot cold. |
