OKC Marine issue bayonet..basicall a heavy a partially serated 8" Bowie Kbar blade full tang and peened to the lock meachanism.Real strong and tough its a great bayonet..I think its the strongest yet since a the full tang M7...hate the M9..The USMC bayonet is way stronger and only around $30 more than M9.The Ontario knife store has them as it is Ontario madeontario knife store has great prices and carry the issue Marine combat or MK2 type knife.

I don't have one for my AR but I do have one for my AK only because it came with it.
If I run out of ammo in my AR, my Glock is coming out quick!!! |
|
What model is that? I want something mil-surp, but I have a carbine. |

I've got a bunch of M7s floating around and a few M9s. M7s are cheap surplus items, I didn't pay much at all, I think I got them through DSGArms a few years back.

No problem I will remember when the zombies attack to put it on my 20 inch. Thanks for the concern |

I tracked down a hybrid conetta mk2 kbar type that was made into a bayonet but its a rarity and im not gonna drop $500 on it but it has inspired me to start playin around with making my own.In any event Marine OKC bayonet or older M7 both full tang peened lock mechanism and strong.

Quoted: Good point for those not in the know.Remember a bayonet will not fit properly on a 16" barrel. It will fit on a 14.5 pinned and welded to 16" though. |

I have 14.5 inch barrel with the welded and pinned flash hider. Thanks |

Any model bayonet made for an M16 wont fit a 16" barrel the muzzle ring ends up behind the flash hider..no worries on a 14.5 barrel or 20 inch barrel.A 16.5 inch barrel is 2" too long for the muzzle ring of the bayonet to be right on the hiders shoulder. As long as you have 5 inches of barrel between the front of the FSB and beginning of the barrels threads any standard bayonet will fit a 16" midlegnth or 14.5 carbine and 20" full size it wont fit 16" carbine and 14.5 mid legnth

The rings are standard in size, so all US M16 bayonets are the same in terms of what they will fit. You don't mention what flash suppressor you have pinned, and they are not all the same size. |

Heres a pic of mine
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8191/8110993518_d1a38ed01b_m.jpg 8.5 inches from back of bayonet lug to tip of A2 flash hider. Im going to need a long ass bayonet. |

As already pointed out, a 16" midlength will work, but a 16" carbine will not. Below is a 16" midlength wearing the M9 bayonet. http://stickman.rainierarms.com/galleries/Centurion%20Arms/Stck_4718-1024-Stick.jpg http://stickman.rainierarms.com/galleries/Centurion%20Arms/Stck_4717-1024-Stick.jpg Is there a lugged block that would work on a 16" mid gas LMT MRP? |
|
I have few M7's for my AR's
Might come in handy if I run out of bullets..... |
|
I wish someone would make a longer handled bayonet for a 16" barrel, with a custom wood handle. Think they would sell good.

My father gave me an M7 right after I got my SP1, just before I left for Boot Camp. I carried that during my time as a Marine Infantryman, even though I was issued one. I also carried it every time I was posted with an M-16A2 as an Air Force Cop, including both trips to the sandbox. Only once was I ever asked (during my AF time) why I had a bayonet. My reply was simple, the Corps taught me how to use it! I still have it, and it stays in the case with my SP1. My father has one for his SP1, his HK-91, his M1 Carbine, and his M1 Garand. Every fighting rifle should have a bayonet!

Yes, only casue someone gave it to me and the Libs hate them.
|
|
Thanks alpha! Very thorough! Why is the long handled bayonet so rare? Was 16 inch barrel carbine gas system used in the military?
|
|
I have an M7 that I picked up at a surplus shop in Seattle. I thought it would compliment the bayonets for my Enfields, Mausers, M1s, etc.
|
|
Got bayonets for all my rifles even my Ar's. Its just cool to me but no Practical use. I will post pics later.

Obama shows his ass again, this time on the subject of Bayonets. The Corps sets him straight. As I said, every fighting rifle should have a bayonet, and every rifleman should learn to use it.

My favorite is the M7B by Ontario knife company (OKC). It has the same blade as the old M7 (which is what is pictured above BTW) but with an updated grip. I don't know why, I just think it looks cool. http://images.knifecenter.com/knifecenter/ontario/images/6277.jpg NOICE! ...and now your poll is inaccurate since I now own a bayonet. |
|
Accroding to POTUS there should be plenty of surplus floating around... :-\

Do the bayonet adapter's stay tight and not move forward? For those of you that have them, do you use loctite on the screws? Thanks
