Anything with a nice tight fit. I’ve seen a lot of set screw gas locks with huge gaps under them after the set screws are put in.

I think it would be worthwhile for Geissele to produce a SKU with their SGB.

So it's just a groove and 2 more holes? And all the holes are smaller?

Appears so. Think about the pressure release. They all will get pressure at the same time.  But the pulse will be different. As the lower two pulses that are at about 120 and 240 degrees. (Zero being at the standard top 0 degree position. The gas fills that channel and has to circumvent the outside of the barrel before it meets the gas tube. Lots of interesting forces in play here when you consider airflow and fluid dynamics.

The top port will see a burst head straight into the gas tube and some will start filling around the sides of the barrel. The lower two at 120 and 240 will start filling around the barrel and the two pressure fronts will meet. This pulse as it gets more pressure will then fully revert back to the gas tube as the only exit. Now take into account that dwell time will matter even more as well as the port sizes. But I could see this delaying the bolt carrier group movement as it takes slightly longer to build the pressure up and let the action do its traditional movement.

Interesting concept for sure. It’s why I want to play with it. I think I have a few ideas to throw at the G design team just if even to create conversation topics. But some of those ideas may lead to a design and patent.

I can also see why they wouldn’t messily want to have the holes lined up in a row too. A few people clearly thought this was the idea. I did too. But it didn’t make sense for a few reasons. That’s a whole different topic though.

I’m a G fan for a reason. Same with Esstac. It’s new ideas and new ways to manufacture and improve product and think a bit outside the box.

It's a great question! The Phased Array System is extremely reliable. I can see if we can disclose any numbers, but it is what provides the GFW such an advantage. With an 8" barrel, even in full-auto, we have barrels with ridiculous round counts. Again, we are limited in what we can release due to contracts, but there might be ways like posts or videos to show its capabilities. We never want our users to believe we are saying, "just trust us" but with the contracts we are winning and the performance people are seeing with platforms like the GFR, the advantages are clearly there.

We know Phased Array is the future, and there are plans to feature it in more products moving forward. We may have another product announcement here soon for a standalone barrel.

We love the feedback regarding what barrel lengths and profiles users want to see, so if anyone else has further feedback we love to hear it!

Would be VERY interested in a stainless steel phased array 16" 6.5 barrel.

I'd be interested to see what this system does on 6.5 Creedmoor and 308 Win. Seems like the gas systems are more problematic in general on the big guns.

just sheer volume of gas? so rather than just steer it differently they are trying to break it up and use the volume as needed to spread it out? similar to a suppressor or brake sort of?

That's not been my experience with large-frame ARs. An adjustable gas block or carrier is basically required, but anything beyond that has not been necessary. Easy enough to plan for that if one's building their own.

The Geisselle gas system does look interesting. I'd love to see more reviews.

Funny thing. I had an idea on that. Similar to most overgrazed rifles. Sent a concept to Bill G$ on it yesterday night. I like designing products and concepts. I think it a valid and it may be something to work into a future item if he’s interested.

I lack a machine shop currently… but can still draw stuff out.

I do have very limited access to a mill and lathe though. Might be able to make a prototype at the Esstac shop. It would be fun to try and see how much it works. Not going into details here yet. If G$ is interested. I’m giving them first dibs on the concept.

One of these days I need to start getting pattents on some of these ideas.

i bet eventually everything will end up if laws allow similar to
this mixed with a version or style like the
Angstadt Arms Prophet Rifle Suppressor System for all 5.56 rifles

well have holes everywhere in the barrel when its all said and done lol

Large Frame AR-10s have always been difficult due to a true lack of "Mil-Spec". It was a battle between AR-10 and DPMS pattern for a while.

The Phased Array System on the MRGG platform works incredibly well though. We have tested it in 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 and we couldn't be happier with the results.

This barrel looks amazing and the phasey array looks really cool. I ordered Adco's last Geissele gas block and it is showing that it will be here Saturday. Hopefully I'll get to test this out soon!

The nitride Aero gas block I have is pretty loose on it. I'll test my VLTOR clamp on for fit when I pull the barrel from the upper this is going into

Maybe I missed it but how does this effect suppressed shooting?
And does this let me say my rifle is a phased plasma rifle in the 40w range?

Pretty cool but really hits home how important the gas block seal is going to be. I've had several block/barrel combos, all with high-end parts, end up fairly loose.

It'll be interesting to see how (if at all) the system loses efficiency or reliability as that fitment gets looser and looser.

To be honest, we shoot more suppressed phased array barrels than unsuppressed. It was beyond our expectations, especially with low backpressure cans like HUX.

You absolutely can call it a phased plasma rifle!

Interesting, I wouldn't have thought just barely staggering the holes would be enough to make a difference, but maybe it is just enough to keep the pulses from the 120/240 ports from slamming into each other at exactly the same time at 12 oclock.
It looks to me like you are going to get a longer, flatter gas pulse which should be great for short barrel/low dwell time applications if it works the way I think it might.

Personally I would just stick with the G gas block... 1) I already have an extra one anyway 2) they tend to fit the G barrels well; zero leakage I can see on any of my GSDs, 3) If there are issues of any sort that require customer support, the first thing they will blame it on (likely correctly) is a leaky/loose 3rd party gas block.

Agreed, which is why I am waiting for the one I ordered prior to assembly. I did the same when I bought the Geissele 10.3" barrel with .063 gas port. Geissele gas block, barrel, upper, REBCG, lower, and Super 42 setup. I fully expected issues and it will run 5.56 ammo unsuppressed (with a standard carbine buffer and spring). However, I made sure it was all their stuff just in case I did have issues.

To add to this. Just for fun I slid a SOLGW gas block onto the barrel today to see how it fits and it is WAY tighter than the Aero. Its actually pretty snug until the last 1/4" and once fully on and it can be spun but but it will stay in place when tipping the barrel. The Aero just flies off.

ETA: Also looks like the SOLGW set screws line up with the dimples.

Partly the reason why I think a clamp on may be optimal with this setup. It’s an amazing concept. Slip on blocks will need to be super precise. (See what I did there?) makes for the need for super precision.
