The 16'' recon is 2 days old and I have yet to shoot it!

My only piston AR. ARES under the rail. Minor dremel work required. Ran 2500 rounds without cleaning, 1100 rounds of Radway, the rest Wolf!!! Runs flawlessly.

Doesn't anyone make a piston upper in 7.62x39?  I've been looking for one, to no avail so far.

You might want to email Ares defense and see if their GSR would work in a 7.62x39 upper. I am not sure if the carrier would take the appropriate bolt.

About a day in a half!
My local gun shop had 2 of them come in last week. I just happened to call them Friday and I picked the rifle up Saturday morning.

Well, I don't know.

As nice as that XCR is, I think we can all agree it's not a piston AR though.

Damn nice looking, but not quite an AR still.

It's kind of like the redheaded step child of the family.

Any carrier that will take a regular 5.56 bolt will accept a 7.62x39 bolt.  It's just the face of the bolt that is different to accept the head of a 7.62x39 round.  The extractor is different also.

I have the Ares GSR kit that I plan on using in 7.62x39.  It is currently down right now as I'm getting the upgraded spigot tomorrow.  Will hopefully try it out next week.

For gas piston 5.56 I've got the Shrike.

thanks for the comments, I'm very happy with it.  I had originally planned to get the POF, but with a 18 week wait and $500 more in price I decided on the Bushy.  4 days and money to spare for ammo- it was a no brainer!
