So ideally I would not like to have any metal plate involved at all but I saw no way to do that without having a significantly thicker piece of wood so that I could properly anchor it to the stock. The thicker wood would also make one side project out more and possibly intrude on the ergonomics. Putting the plate on only one side solved the mechanical issues and having unobstructed wood on the other delivered the woody look. |

But in the end I had to modify me panels at the safety to fit on the indian creek plus it was triple the price. Yeah I got hosed on that. In the end I may chuck the whole thing and go to a leather wrapped/stitched solution over a cheap painted MOE-K. |
