Does Cerakote have hardness equal to; or better, than the standard Mil-Spec anodizing? If so, I'm sold on it for my next build.

Geissele rail, PWS flash hider, 10.3 Daniel defense barrel, LMT BCG, Motiuk Upper/Lower (Canadian company) It's just the "Sand" color option from Geissele. Apparently the way they Anodize the rail it's never the same shade |

My Ruger SR-556 has shipped from Controlled Chaos Arms...Can't wait to see her in burnt bronze!!!
|
|
OK, Here she is... My Ruger 556E in Midnight Burnt Bronze by controlled Chaos Arms.
I asked Michael at CCA to mix a "Midnight" burnt bronze or darken the standard Burnt Bronze Cerakote with some matt black to insure that my rifle wouldn't come out looking too shiny or gold. I didn't want a high contrast between the black parts and the new Cerakote... To be completely honest I was afraid that the finish might turn out looking cheap or cheesy. If a subdued color was what I asked for, It was exactly what I got. In fact, when I was unboxing it and the rifle was still wrapped in cellophane, I wasn't even sure if it had even been Cerakoted. It's Amazing how different this finish can look under different lighting conditions (Indoor light, direct sunlight and flash images)...I took about 20 pictures with my iPhone (I should use a real camera) and got shots of her looking Green, Tan, Black, Brown and Bronze. While I'm still getting used to the color that I asked for, the finish is absolutely flawless. If I get another custom Cerakote job done it will definitely be with CCA. Now that I've seen the quality of their work firsthand, I'd probably be a bit more aggressive with the color choice. What do the masses think? http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/ag337/ultramaximizer/Close1_zps22b74c9a.jpg http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/ag337/ultramaximizer/Burnt2_zps5f3a9b60.jpg http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/ag337/ultramaximizer/Burnt1_zps03c181b5.jpg |

One last addition, MFT Battlelink Minimalist Stock.
I wanted to shave a tiny bit more weight off of my Ruger. The MFT BMS is only 5.8oz and feels the same to my cheek and shoulder as the heavier Magpul ACS did. The SR-556E was not built to be a light and fast gun by any means. To me it's more of a "Sport Utility" rifle, built to shoot straight and work well under any conditions. The current rig is 7.8lbs without optics- That's not too bad for an all metal, piston driven AR with a hammer forged 16" heavy barrel, rail covers, BUIS and an ambi sling plate. href=http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/ag337/ultramaximizer/SR556E_withBMSstock_zps85478036.jpg" /> |

No, not that I am aware of. It is very easy to get done, I wouldn't let not having a factory option stop you from getting one on your rifle/pistol. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I really like the burnt bronze color. The other day on a website there was an AR with what appeared to be burnt bronze, but it had a green tint to it, while it still had the metallic brass shine.
Someone said it might be MRE- Multi-regional Earth. Is thre a cerakote mix for this color? Any shade of burnt bronze looks great though. Thanks, Jackal |
