The brown truck stopped by today. Attached File Glass is exceptionally clear. Don’t think a cattail is needed on the power ring. Very smooth. The mount looks like a winner. Very light, well made. Usual Griffin swag, some cool stickers. All I’ve done is unbox. I did put the battery in, dot sure looks daylight bright if that’s important. Nice touch, being able to go to 1, or 12 brightness easily. Brightness dial goes either way. My first(I swore I wouldn’t) 34mm tube. It’s big. It’s very bright, sun is setting now perfect time to see how it’ll be in the dark timber on an elk gun. Edit- Could’ve waited a bit longer for dark but really nice glass. Seems legit, just poking around the back yard. Dog likes it anyway. Attached File No I don’t live next to a prison. Fence was made to keep bison, brought in as a tourist attraction, on the Colo nat monument. Pretty nice back fence, thank you taxpayers. I think that was the third, and final anti Buffalo fence the park service bought. Poor buff we’re just trying to get to the river and plowed through everything else. That was Years ago, buff gone, fence stayed. No wonder DOGE has such easy pickings. |

Thanks for the assessment of that and your post. Sounds rough on the Buffalo with the water problem. Make sure you use the shim plates on the right side and torque those screws before mounting and leveling for the greatest mounting convenience. Also the BCG buffer detent clearance slot can be used as a tool to loosen the QD nuts if they get too tight, so the tool is around if you have an AR and overtighten the nuts. |

I was just watching your vid on the mount before I jump on the install. Good info. I am old, but I do like the QR code manual that came with the optic. It would be a tiny paper manual anyway. There was no QR code manual with the mount btw. I don’t need one tho with the video. Nice scope caps included, and they fit perfectly. |

I have not shot it yet. Just an old school bore sighting, should be on paper. The only comparable glass I have is an older Leo. MR/T 2.5x10. Pretty sure it was 1100 bucks when I bought. This is better glass. The reticle pops out clear. Really nice and no, Griffin didn’t cut me any kind of deal. The mount is unique. The shims, not sure of the purpose? I used them per the video. I suppose they help on the install as those ring screws are easier access off the gun. Hit them with 20 in/lb. I said unique. They are on the bottom. The remaining screws are typical topside and torqued after the mount is clamped to the rail. It was easy to level the optic after that and torque the topside screws. Austin, can you expand on the design of having ring screws designed like that? My tiny grunt brain knows there is a reason. As a former Army sniper, I know you have a great reason. All I ask of a mount is for it to do its job. Pretty sure this one will. The machining was flawless and it matched perfectly with the tube. Now I just gotta shoot it. Attached File |

Oh sorry for the late response- Spuhr has a patent for diagonal split rings that don’t allow a top left 45 degree accessory surface for left handed people, and we wanted to have a ambi five side accessory platform and offset plane split rings was the idea- it is not diagonal so we knew we could patent it. We did seek legal advice as due diligence to ensure we weren’t in contention with Spuhr, and the patent attorney’s opinion was no contention and we did start the process and submit a patent application after that point and get a patent granted. The shims allow the lower screws to be fully torqued before the mount is installed, this prevents certain tools from having a reach problem requiring removal to tighten and the reattach. Customers would complain about that negative inconvenience impact of the lower screws previous to the shims. The leupold is a good example- the glass to me looks clearer than mk4 3.5-10x40 glass and I always thought the mk4’s were really nice optics personally. The mounts unlike track bases with clamped on rings are solid cradles for the optic tube, so they protect a zero better than rings which can move independently of the base and which are more affordable to manufacture. We make the mounts in the US and sell the very developed / efficient process, 4-axis cnc mill time at ~$145/hour vs european products that are sold for approximately or more than twice as much. Every part is Renishaw probed, so all datums are related to where the part actually is in the machine for the highest accuracy and quality. The qd version nuts, if you ever get those too tight, the bcg’s buffer detent slot on the bottom rear of the carrier works as a wrench to loosen the nuts. The mounts represent full time professional cnc CAM programming ~45 hours a week for 4 years to comprise all the programs and make all the developmental improvements that have been required to reach the product you have which is in its fully developed life-cycle state. This can be compared to ring bases supported by 3 diameters of clamped on rings, which reduce the complexity to perhaps 6 months of programming time for a whole line of products, via a couple different base heights. These are definitely in a class of superior product quality vs the competing systems. |

@Green0 Just purchased one with a 1.93" GPM mount. I didn't see any news on the sight as to when these new gen QD style mount will be hitting the market? Looking forward to trying this optic out. It was the 110 SASS review that caught my eye praising the 1x on this scope. |

Just got it in, and 110 Sass is 100% correct about the 1x on this thing. It's really nice. 10x is a bit dark, but that was expected with a 2.5 exit pupil. My Razor 1-10x was the same. Glass is nicer than I expected, much nicer! This thing is clear with very little fisheye at the very edge of the glass. I'll have a better idea of all it's pros and cons when I get it out to the range. Right now the only con I can see is the weight, and especially with the GPM mount added. I have a Reptilia AUS on the way because I really don't like the 12oz the GPM adds to this already heavy optic at 25oz. : I should add the I really had to look for the bit of fisheye at the edges, because I didn't notice it until I saw 110 SASS's review. I also think is not as dark at 10x as he was seeing. |

He was looking through the front sight post/tower so that was darkening the image at 10x. The newer mounts exist but haven’t been formally released and they drop weight to around 7 ounces on the more normal height mounts. The QD version is in that needs a promotional release category. |

I remember you mentioning that before. I may want to try those when they are released possibly. I'm still digging the 1-10. It's one of those things where I have to keep looking through it because I can't believe how nice the glass is in this for the price range. Reminds me of some good Pilipino glassed optics I have had in the past. Looks like a good job was done spec-ing it out. Also an FYI: I had a Swaro z8i throw lever I forgot about that fit perfect on this optic. |

| I took a brief look. The list is vast. I have no way of seeing examples of anything in the database so a comprehensive look is kind of impossible. I did a couple google images searches and I guess my best recommendation in light of those would be something like a TMR-D, Mark 6 1-6x20, Leupold reticle possibly might have some cross reference capability. The split ring is different but the 10 mils and half mil subtensions are present so it's kind of in the ballpark. |

Thanks for the research. Greatly appreciated ![]() The more and more I look through this and shoot with it, the more I am liking it. It will definitely find a home on either my BCM KD4 upper or a POF Revolution 308. Both are 10rd 1/2"-3/4" guns especially with my handloads. |

| Thanks for the positive feedback. I really thought they were solid- to me the optics were similar to MK4 and MK4 was always a pretty solid optic in my opinion. Those are nice shooting rifles. We have some new barrels in production that I've test fired and shot around .750" at 100 with the 11.5" length and I'm excited to get the more accurate barrels in the rifles at some point. |

I got a chance to look through this and the 1-8 yesterday, and I liked what I saw. I think I might get the 1-10 for my 400 legend upper that's in need of a proper optic. My first thought upon looking through the scopes was that the reticles were much nicer than I expected. (My second thought was that the clarity was pretty darned good.) The diagrams posted here and on the website are awesome for understanding the reticle. None of pictures up here or on the site do the Griffin reticles justice as to how they look, illuminated, when looking through the actual scope. The loading bay picture is good from the 1-8, but to me it gives a false impression of how busy the reticle is. I was surprised to find I liked the 1-8's reticle as much as I did when looking at it with illumination on and at different magnification levels. With both scopes, I liked the brightness settings. There weren't any awkward jumps in brightness nor were there any settings that barely changed from one to the next. There are nice even steps in the illumination levels. The knob's resistance was just right -- not turning easily, but not too difficult, either. I don't know squat about taking pictures through scopes, or how Griffin got the loading dock picture which is nice and clear, but I think some more pictures that quality, but with the reticle illumination on at different levels (and, for the FFP, at different magnification levels) might give a better picture to potential customers of how nice the reticles are. More images through the actual scope tends to make me feel like I know what to expect and that I've seen the actual product in action. It also makes me more comfortable with a purchase, as it makes me feel like I'm better informed. After my limited handling, I'd say both seem like pretty nice products. I'm looking forward to more. |

I got mine to the range finally. I was doing great, I thought. Then I saw this. Attached File Attached File Defective installer. When you buy a new torque driver, RTFM. I was using the white part of the indicator to hit 20&25 in-lb, not the red. Never even saw the red line lol. I have corrected my defective install. Attached File Green0, you mentioned in the install vid you prefer to have the adjustment housing bumped up to the ring. Any particular reason? Forgot to add, really like the glass. Beat up steel is hard to find with my old Burris. No more. I was smacking one way up there, 320 yards. Satisfying to hear the guys watching say “damn, he hit it again”. I’m gonna put the brake back on the sfar tho. 80 rounds of 308 wears on me, mainly from the awkward hold to get the elevation off the bench. Attached File |

&^^%!! missed it again. I would have thought DAD discount would be Father's day weekend, not the one before It's OK, there will be others, besides, he got me for a few of the suppressor BCG's last sale ![]() I'll give a very quick observation here on the BCG; VERY nice machining, no lines, chatters, or machining marks. Finish is impeccable, almost satin and very and smooth and evenly applied. I'm not certain with the finish it appears that most carbon will wipe off. I'll see if I can get them installed this weekend and and offer a full report. @Green0 - Thanks for helping on the BCG, secondly, did I recall a mention of lighter weight scope mounts coming? I am a fan of lightness (I race a Miata and have bought tires based on weight, don't laugh). Lastly, now that Griffin is introducing printed silencers, any thoughts on a light(er) use Ti can? |

It falls on the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar. Eid al-Fitr is celebrated by Muslims worldwide because it marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-dusk fasting of Ramadan. |

The holidays we just had were memorial day which like so many US retail holidays is now happening earlier, and fathers day. 4th of July isn’t far out. I had not heard of EID. We celebrate certain USA holidays that are typical retail sale holidays, and those are officially offered in the current competitive best practices we are aware of. So in other words if people start putting up Christmas trees before Thanksgiving, and the Christmas sale gets moved two weeks early by a bunch of retailers looking to get in first before people are done spending, then we follow suit. We don’t start the trends though. I think fathers day got moved up to allow fathers day gifts to be present and to be given on Father’s Day for example. That happened with other brands forcing us to modify our sale. We aren’t going to Chinese, Muslim, Hindu or other religious or cultural calendars to make, unorthodox for US market, retail sales happen. Obviously that would be totally unorthodox for a US company to do, and could result in sales nearly all the time. As far as lighter scopes, I don’t have anything in the works. We are waiting on delivery of a pair of DMLS machines but the plan was to make parts in a custom modified 625 inconel proprietary blend of powder that was about 93% similar to 625 and achieved higher strength to higher temperatures and lower creep. Titanium would require a second dedicated depowdering machine, a special vacuum stress relief oven and a argon purged laser engraving process which is all possible but not something we wanted to get into immediately. We felt inconel was more compatible with support of our current lineup. |

The elevation is one turn 14.5mil up and .5 down so the elevation zero can't be lost either. If the rings are removed the whole range of motion is possible for zeroing. This is a first look at the newer lightweight GPM mount. The 45 degree flip to side mount if placed on the right side of the optic puts the dot on optical centerline so you can tilt the rifle 45 without loss of cheek weld and go from reticle to dot. There are ranging features of the reticle that allow the magnification dial to estimate the range in hundreds of meters that is covered in the manual. Obviously with mils and a calculator other ranging can happen at 10X. Wow, great review, if you watch his other videos he does a comparison at the end of testing all 6 'budget' scopes, guess who wins (hint it's Griffin). @Green0 - does the 1-8 use the same glass and set up, in other words same glass specifications, good eyebox, great 1x and 8x. I know it has a different reticle. I see what you mean by he was looking through the scope at the front sight, it was rather annoying and for a dedicated scope review a pretty bad oversight (I would imagine he has plenty of guns). |

Green0, you mentioned in the install vid you prefer to have the adjustment housing bumped up to the ring. Any particular reason? Referring to that, I just like to do that, as it prevents any ability for anything to move. It's certainly not required with 6, 8-40 screws at 18-22in/lbs. We haven't had any issues of anything moving. Your install at around 10in/LBS makes sense from that perspective- that sucks on the not seeing the red line part. Originally Posted By bmarshall1: @Green0 - does the 1-8 use the same glass and set up, in other words same glass specifications, good eyebox, great 1x and 8x. I know it has a different reticle. The 1-8 is FFP. It is 24mm OBJ not 28mm. It has a 30MM tube not 34mm. So the optical quality isn't the same. There is a developed prototype of a 1-10 FFP 34mm with 28mm Objective, but we don't move many 1-8's and we were kind of wondering if it made sense to move forward with that model, given the sluggish sales of the 1-8FFP. The 1-10's are nearing sold out from the first small run, but that's mostly because of that one review. No-one really believes any products are decent anymore without getting a good review some views and youtube has really hurt influencer marketing by discriminating against firearms very harshly, so it's kind of a perfect storm for getting screwed on releases of new products and having sluggish motion of new products. |

The 34mm mounts of the new lighter style do exist, they are on the shelf. The CS department could arrange the sale of them to people. The marketing department through a combination of screwing around and not 100% working to company directives, and also being busy with other things like a new website which is needed to integrate FFL drop down lists for people to select a dealer for FFL orders, haven't completed the work to allow us to release them yet. We have maybe 2-4 of something like 36 parts produced and finished and boxed. That work takes a long time because we maybe make 100 of everything and the 36 parts represent 3600 mounts, and the parts all have to get tool-pathed, proved out, debugged, produced, and then sent to Anodizing and to laser engraving and boxed. I made a video demonstrating their installation 6-months ago. That was a production part. Several have gone out to reviewers and at least one to a customer here. |

![]() How to Mount Griffin Precision Mounts™ This is the vid I used. Mine has 2 rail clamp screws, and I had to pull the rail clamp completely to hit those bottom 2 screws. Your mount appears to be the QD version of the new lightweight ~7.5 ounce GPM mount. The screws would go in from the grabber side if the mount was bolt on. The screws that are put in from the opposite side should be torqued to ~25 in lbs with loctite and left alone, and the QD nuts drive the grabber into the mount. There should be springs in pockets under the grabber so the grabber moves away from the mount when the QD detented knobs are loosened. The springs are ar15/m16 disconnector springs which press into their pockets and stay put. My demo video was on a bolt on version rather than QD. The mounts are fully renishaw probed individually in manufacturing and about 12% of cycle time is inspection and quality control processes so they are all very high quality and the same. |

Probably will, since I haven’t Re sighted since my last mounting. A decent install vid should be coming for this variant. I like the QR version that came with the glass. Thanks for the input btw. Yeah seat the screws in the orientation shown in your picture with 25in/lb torque and loctite near heads of the screws. At that point leave them alone, and use the qd nuts to install the grabber and loosen / remove the mount. I can’t see the springs in your picture but I gather from your comments they are there. The buffer pin slot on a bolt carrier can be used as a wrench to loosen the nitrided 17-4 qd nuts in a pinch if they get too tight to remove by hand. It looks like it shipped correctly if you ordered qd (or they shipped the wrong model if it was ordered bolt on) but you used a T15 key instead of the qd nuts to tighten/ loosen the grabber due to maybe confusion from the bolt on version video. Did you get the shim plates for the right side lower screws? Those simplify install procedures. |

The Spuhr is a nice mount, but the price is not a value driven price on the item that isn't made in the USA. For the other guy this isn't an infringement of anything. We got a legal opinion from a large patent firm as step 1. Their opinion was our item did not infringe Spuhr. We cited Spuhr's patent on the patent application (AKA hid nothing and professionally disclosed the prior art) and the USPTO saw the item was novel and granted the patent: https://patents.google.com/patent/US10935347B2/en?inventor=Austin+Reis-Green In U.S. Pat. No. 8,733,011, a diagonally split ring interface scope mount includes accessory mounting points for interfacing accessory mounting devices. The diagonally split interface does not allow desirable ambidextrous modularity to occur. The top left 45-degree quadrant is occupied by the clamping screws and therefore missing interfacing geometry needed for the ideal 180 degree pattern which affords interfacing geometry needed for compatibility with left and right handed shooters. As can be seen, there is a need for a scope mount that allows for desirable ambidextrous modularity for accessory attachments. |

| These are going to be put back in stock tomorrow for our black friday sale, but they have extended 3-4 week fulfillment time. They are supposed to be through QC in 1-2 weeks here. So we wanted to let people have the ability to buy in the sale without missing it regardless of the fact that they won't be able to be through QC until around the end of the sale period. |

I would recommend trying the https://griffinarmament.com/product/1-335-34mm-qd-gpm-cantilever-mount/ 1.335" cantilever mount as it would be ~3 ounces lighter, and that's the shortest of the cantilever mounts, but I think that might be a good height for the hellion potentially. It's hard to say I'm seeing people running 1.26-1.5" optic heights on those, so 1.335" is intermediate to what is in use. |
