| Im curious as to what scope you use for 100-300yd shots. Im new to the AR world and most people I see use the red-dot, how far accurate can you get with them as well. |

eotech and aimpoint will get you out to (and past 300) yards depending on how accurate you want to be
try a good 1-4x reread that you are new to AR... just use iron sights out to 300yrds until you perfect that - then get the optics you'd be surprised how accurate you can be with just iron sights |

Super Sniper 10X or 16X Thanks Ill look into that OP what kind of targets are you planning on shooting, and what is "accurate" to you?
No perticular target, just getting it dialed in for now. For accuracy, since ive never owned an AR I would be VERY pleased with quarter size groupings at 300yds. eotech and aimpoint will get you out to (and past 300) yards depending on how accurate you want to be
try a good 1-4x Ive seen Eotech and Aimpoint are very popular on here, ill look into the 1-4x models. Thanks reread that you are new to AR... just use iron sights out to 300yrds until you perfect that - then get the optics
you'd be surprised how accurate you can be with just iron sights Thanks for the advice, and I definatly agree! |

You wont do quarter sized groups with irons. You wont do qurater sized groups with a 1-4X scope. I have shot quater sized groups at 300... with a 20X scope and a benchrest rifle. Consider perhaps 2" groups at 300 and a 12-18X scope max magnification range for what you want and you better go straight to match ammo from a match stainless barrel too. You wont do 3" with anything optics or not with a chrome lined barrel, bone stock AR with a stock trigger.
These people talking about using a stock AR at 300 or 400 with an Aimpoint or EOtech or irons are talking about human sized targets where a one foot group is 100% hits. I do about 4 MOA with irons, 3-4 MOA with an Aimpoint as I have an astigmatism, 1 MOA is very difficult for 4X, its easy at 9X and sub MOA requires just a bit more magnification. I can still hit a mansized target at 400 yards offhand with an Aimpoint most of the time... just no telling where I might hit. Aimpoints and EOtech are fine out to 50 yards... beyond that give me magnification. |

Im talking 6-8" groups at 300yrds with irons - but yes man size targets. Some people can do better - I am not one of them.
Eotech's 1moa dot is dead one at 100yds and will give the groups that your rifle/ammo is capabable of out past 100yrds. This where the larger aimpoint dots lose precsion since they cover too much target past 100yrds (4" on M2's 4MOA dot). Depends how "accurate" you are meaning. |
