I am thinking about having an 10.5 upper built for me but I am not sure which way to head on this project. There has seem to have been some new changes in this market and would some imput on which way I should go. Money is not the real factor here, It will be a gift to myself after deployment.

1.) Would you go with one of the standard 10.5 uppers from LMT?

2.) An LMT 10.5 MRP?

3.) Maqybe something like the new LW SRT type uppers

4.) Noveske 10.5 upper but with which rail system or maybe the 12.5 barrel

I am open for any and all ideas.

i kinda did the same thing that you want to do,

since i wasnt planing on having the extra barrels around i didnt see a need for the MRP, i ended up going with an lmt, with medium KAC ras, andspr gas block, this set up will allow me to run a supressor under teh RAS and look like an mp5SD

as for the LW, im sure they are cool, but i have never had any issues with the standard gas system, and dont feel the need for it on a recreational shooter

noveski hasa good rep, im sure youll be happyt if you go with them?

best solution is to think exactly what you want, contact MSTN and they can build you exactly the what you want, they went out of the way to take care of me when i was overseas

take care

Any of the above will serve you well. A 10.5" can be a very reliable and handy weapon, it just takes more thought into your initial set-up and preventive maintenance.

I'm currently running a standard LMT 10.5" upper w/ Noveske barrel & krink brake. It has been 100% reliable. I have even taken it to classes were it was expected to give me problems, but it ran perfectly throughout the entire class. Run a Wolf HD extractor spring, CRANE O-ring, H2 buffer, and keep it as clean and well lubed as you can and it will run all day. I also keep a watchful eye on my extractor; if it looks worn it gets replaced. Quality mags (USGI or HK) will also help just like in any AR.

Any of the 4 listed options will serve you well. Option #5 will be to contact a reputable builder to assemble one to your specs.

Here's a look at my personal rig:

Leitner-Wise Gas piston upper (10.3" Gov. profile barrel)
Leitner-Wise Advance Combat Bolt
Grenadier Precision ARM-R/M freefloat rail
Grenadier Precision Lower (NFA Post Dealer)
Noveske Krink flash hider
KAC rail panels
EOtech
Troy BUIS
LMT SOPMOD stock
TD pistol grip

Do you have any problems with the Grenadier Precision rail, I wonder about those screws on the front working loose.

Nope...Just finger tighten, then cinch them down an additional 1/4 turn with a coin or case rim
