I was thinking about getting a LMT 14.5 upper with a Perm attached Suppressor.  What are the donwsides to having it permanent?  I like it because it is shorter than a 16 with a A2 flash.

I was thinking if somehow I dropped the gun and the suppressor was chipped would I be able to put a new one on the barrel?

You could always take off a permanent Flash Surpressor if you really needed to. But if you are worried about dinging the F/S that much, maybe it would be a good idea to look into the 16" barreled upper.

IF you removed the F/S on a 14.5" barrel and replaced it, you would still need to permanently attach a F/S back on no matter what in order for the barrel to make the 16" legal limit.

You won't chip it, don't worry.
