I dont think your "problem" is really a problem. Every now and then I will get a upper / lower combo that fits nice and snug, but i have never noticed any difference in accuracy. I guess if the slop really bugs you, try it. its five bucks.

That device work for me on a stock Armalite, but I don't think I would buy it again, unless the fit was quite loose.

I had the same issue with my PSA upper and one of the guys in the 68forums.com suggested I use a cheap O-Ring on the Pivot Lug. Cheaper then an accu wedge and from what I have read in reviews is that sometimes the accu wedge doesnt work or needs trimming. The fitting is now super tight with no wiggle. I grabbed extra and store them in my A2 stock if it breaks.

Yea i also just read this on another website, it said to use like a size 6 or 7 o-ring on the pivot lug. I guess i know what im gonna use instead of the accu-wedges i ordered last night lol.

Play is normal and fine, accu wedge is a waste of money. I have heard you can do,the same thing with foam ear plugs but never bothered

They work for taking the play out.  I have one on my .22lr AR.  There was a lot of play in between the upper and lower.  I was at Sportsmans Warehouse and saw one picked it up for $4 I think.

Even "tight" fitting guns will loosen up with higher round counts and disassembly for cleaning.

Up and down play is no big deal. You should have seen the loose fitting weapons we had issued in the military.
But if you are a picky bastard like me. I'd just go the o ring fix. Mega lowers have a separate screw in them to tighten this slop up.
Is it really necessary? Probably not. But I like that feature.
Personally that play bothers me and I try to correct it.
The item you linked to looks like it would be more of a hindrance. As it seems like it could interfere with the operation of the selector.
If you don't like the play buy yourself a 50 cent o ring

You run a set screw in the same hole as your grip screw.  It will push up on the rear lug Trigger to remove Trigger take up.  I forget the size.

ETA: after a google search I found they are 1/4-28.
ETA2: Enough for life Link  You can probably find the at your hardware store as well.

I hate to tell a fellow gun owner that he doesn't know what he is talking about, but here I have to. Maybe doesn't know what you are talking about is a little harsh, so lets just say confused.
There is NO WAY that the grip screw comes up under the rear lug. The rear lug is at least .625 behind where the grip screw comes up
I believe you are confused, with the Grip screw Trigger take up method.
Yes the grip screw is 1/4-28 but the hole comes under the rear of the trigger. That's how they take the take-up out of the trigger.
You might want to look into this further

I actually got looking at my lower after the post by Mahamotorworks and noticed this as well and was scratching my head at how this would take up the "slop" in the upper/lower lol.

Here's the picture you requested. You can see how far back the rear lug is from the trigger group, which is where the grip screw hole comes in at the rear of the trigger.

Awesome thank you for the picture Bob, i totally understand now. I see that MEGA lowers come with a screw with a nylon tip to takes up the "slop" if you will. What lower is that, that you're using in the picture?

That happens to be their Billet MA-10 .308 lower, but I believe that their 5.56 lower has the same feature. Go here,

If you have a drill press you could do it to a standard receiver. You would just have to drill the hole at an angle to hit the lug.

Apparently, the AR-15 rifle operates just fine with some looseness between the receivers.  However, like many others I try to find and fix anything that rattles in my rifles, tight fit is goodness.  Accordingly, I bought a couple Accuwedges.

The pros include:  cheap at $5, easy to install and it definitely does the job.  Furthermore, without the wedge, my charge handle drags on the lower just ahead of the buffer tube.  With the wedge installed, the carrier is brought up slightly and seems better aligned with the buffer and its tube.

Cons:  Sometimes it takes a little trimming of the plastic to get the receivers to close.  To remove or insert the rear pin, I have to place the mag well on a hard surface and lean on the top rail.  There is no easy way to affix the wedge to the lower, sometimes it falls out when you open up the receivers.

The o-ring solution looks interesting.  If the receivers are loose at the back, not sure how an o-ring up front will correct it, but its worth a try.  - CW
