Hi everyone - I started my first AR build. I got a good price on a complete RRA lower w/ the 2 stage trigger from a friend. Found out recently they have very tight tolerances. But I'll deal with that when the time comes.
I budgeted around $700-775(w/ rear sites) for the upper. I want to know if what I have listed is everything I need to assemble the complete upper. I wouldn't mind taking in suggestions if I should order a different part. BCM Standard 16" Mid Length Upper Receiver Group BCM bolt carrier group BCM AR-15 charging handle Yankee Hill Machine Lightweight Tactical Free Float - Mid Length Yankee Hill end cap magpul folding rear site Watched a few videos on how to install the quad rail and it doesn't look too tough. Hopefully I'll be able to figure it out. thanks! |

Do any of the "group"s you listed include the gas block and gas tube? Here is the link to the upper receiver group http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-16-Mid-Length-Upper-Receiver-Group-p/bcm-urg-mid-16.htm Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I see a gas tube and gas block included in the picture. However, I do not see it listed below when it describes everything. Do you think it is included? I could always call and check. I wouldn't have thought of that, thanks |
| If the upper you are ordering comes with the front sight installed it will have to be removed to install the YHM free float tube. Just be aware removing the front sight pins can involve alot of hammering and swearing in most cases. Once you have done one you'll know what to expect the next time. It's nice to have some help with it. BCM is quality stuff so you can't go wrong there. |

I would be willing to bet it comes with the gas tube. Consider a drop in rail or moe hand guards if you don't want to knock out the pins on the fsb. Or order an upper with a low profile gas block. ordering the upper with a low profile gas block was not an option for the BCM upper group I was looking at. I have not looked at the moe hand guards. I did not come across them when looking for free floating rails. Are the moe hand guards free floating? also what is the difference between a drop in rail and the free floating rail? As you can tell I'm very new when it comes to ARs. |

moe is not free floating neither are drop ins the work with the existing delta ring and end cap so you wouldn't have to remove your fsb or barrel nut or muzzle device or have to buy an upper action block armorers wrench etc...
Free floating rails don't touch the barrel anywhere but through the barrel nut. |

just heard back from BCM - a gas tube and gas block is not included within the group.
I have not done any research into gas blocks and gas tubes. Which one would I need for the 16 inch upper group that I have selected? Any help would be much appreciated. I was trying to order everything in one shot, but it looks like bravousa does not have any gas tubes in stock. |

it comes with a front sight base which functions as a gas block unless you want something different you don't need a gas block. you would just need a mid length gas tube get a gas tube roll pin too. okay, thanks. I put the mid length gas tube and roll pin on my list. |
