Ok let me first say I am new to AR's. I have built 4 AK's but the AR scene is totally new to me. I was looking at RRA site and wondering what if I was to purchase a complete A2 lower half and a complete
CAR A2 upper half that comes complete with bolt carrier group and charging handle assembly. What else] do I need ? I realize this isn't a real complete AR build it's like the pieces are already there and all you have to do is put them together. What am I missing here ? Also which is better  Chrome Moly or Stainless steel barrel ?

A complete upper and complete lower is all you need.  SS is a little more accurate, but ((+% of people aren't near good enough to tell the difference without a high quality scope.  A chrome lined barrel is best for general purpose(not chromemoly).

Stickman  Thanks for your reply. As I mentioned earlier this is my first AR.Will I need any special tools or does it just bolt together ? Does anyone else go this way or does everyone do the one piece at a time method. I guess if you do it the other way you can choose each piece individually. Sorry for asking such simple questions but I noticed the members on this forum are quite knowledgeable. I don't want to screw anything up so I ask questions . Thanks again

If you buy a complete lower and a complete upper that is all you need besides a good magazine.  You need no tools to put it together.  Just slap it together and pop the pins in.

If you have built AK's then you could easily build an AR from a kit.  Take a look at Adco's site.  You can save some money and its simple.

Building an AR is much easier than building out an AK.

I have never built an AK, but if I understood what I was told correctly the barrel must be pressed into upper, None of that here with the AR. I have also read that the AK parts can't be as easily interchanged as the AR, due to the ARs strict specs. While I may be wrong on both counts for the AK. You should have NO problem building an AR. I have NO machine skills and my AR is just about finished.

And as stated above: If your just building the lower and buying a barreled upper "Technically" you don't need any tools outside of a hammer. But you will need some roll pin punches to disassemble your AR and to get the roll pins flush with your reciever. Your better of just getting a few especially when it comes to the bolt catch roll pin.  Here are some sizes roll punches you will need ( 1/16", 3/32", 1/8" & 5/32".) If you dont already have them.

A rubber mallet helps, and sometimes you might need a fine file for slight metal removal. Although you better off with out either, for that tight upper lower fit with RRA receviers.

Some additional tools will be needed if you do decide to barrel your upper (Action block. Armorers wrench) Bushmaster sells every thing you need. And some grease for the threads of your upper and Barrel nut (Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2) lubricant)

The hand guard tool makes life easier too.
