| I want to get a 22 cal. conversion kit for my AR just for plinking around, squirrel hunting, etc... Can I get some opinions on these conversion kits? And... which manufacturer has the best product? I have observed the only two product names, for this conversion, to be the "Ciener" and the "Brownells". Any more out there to be recommended? I borrowed my cousin's Brownell conversion. I never had an FTF or FTE, just the typical powder buildup expected from the .22 LR. The Brownell seemed to perform ok. I was just wondering if the Ciener brand was either more or less durable, etc..etc. Give me some pro advice on the brands, or if I should stay away from the 22 conversion completely. I don't know if they are detrimental to the 5.56/223 AR or not. Thanks. |

Skip the conversion and get yourself a Spike's Tactical dedicated .22LR upper. It has the proper twist rate which is 1 in 16" for better accuracy. I hear this all the time but I get really good accuracy with my conversion. I shoot 2.5"x2.5" steel circles at about 30 yards with irons. I have about a 75% hit percentage. It might not be as accurate as the dedicated upper but its good enough IMO. ETA: Oh yea, I have a Noveske 14.5" 1-7 twist |
