Notched hammers can catch the bottom of the bolt whereas a DPMS non notched hammer won't. You can file the hammer or the bottom of the conversion kit if your not concerned about your warranty. Sometimes the conversion kit bolts will drag on the bolt catch or charging handle which can slow the the bolt. Sometimes on a new conversion the ammo is not hot enough to cock the hammer after firing. If you go to the pistol and rimfire section there are several threads on tuning conversion kits. On new kits it best to use lube and some people polish the kits to improve functioning. Don't give up you'll sort out your problems.

I have a Ciener kit. Had it for years. Used it in 3 different guns with notched hammers. No issues.
Keep it CLEAN, and keep it lubed. Break-in might be in order, too. My friend's brand-new conversion was having trigger reset issues, but eventually calmed down, and also responded more favorably to different ammo. |
