1. Has anyone made a blue one with the diode from a blu-ray or hd-dvd player?

2. I need a rail mounted laser for my ar with pressure tape. I want something with no light and under $300. What brands or specific models should I look at? I have no idea about this kind of stuff, except that I always use streamlight for my pistols.

Thanks

You want a homemade laser that you can mount to your AR with tape?

You are totally awesome.

May I suggest that you use zip-ties instead.

You are my AR hero if you do it, though.

Wow your reading comprehension sucks. I asked if anyone has made a blue laser. And no you wouldn't need tape. You take apart a laser sight and replace the diode with a blue laser diode. There are videos all over the internet showing how to do it, I was just wondering if anyone here has done it. Where did I say I personally wanted it?

The question about a laser for my carbine was completely unrelated which you should have been able to infer from the fact that it was seperated from the other question with a number. Also the fact that I said I wanted a RAIL laser and what BRANDS to look at.

Go back to 5th grade, re-learn to read and stop being a smart ass little punk

I still say you should use zip ties...I taught 5th grade for about five years. Lots of little punks. Some with short fuses and no senses of humor...

Stop taking arfcom so seriously, bro...

Good luck with your *laser* (Say it in the voice of Dr. Evil).

Honestly, brother. "Smart ass little punk..." Gotta love arfcom!

Everybody can be brave behind a keyboard, it seems. Good luck with your laser, though. Nobody had commented, and thought I might try to lighten your day, that's all, bro.

Seriously, good luck with your project.

take it easy man the guy was just busting your chops a little

I have never heard of anyone making a blue laser nor can I see a reason to want one.

lasermax makes a pretty nice and very small laser for under $300

I personally have an OTAL which mounts on the top rail of your forearm it's quite a bit over $300 but IMO is very worth it.  I don't have any experience with any other laser so I can't comment on their reliabilty.  Take a look at the laser max one it seems pretty nice.  There are also plenty of other lasers out there for under $300.  Check out laser devices website and see what they have.

good luck

He meant a pressure switch, not mounting the laser with tape.

There's a 25mW green laser that's getting good reviews in another thread here for $150 from ebay, and a lower power one selling in the budget optics forum (seller marsh1) on the EE for $89 that people are also happy with.

If it were me, I'd go for the inexpensive one for starters.

I haven't heard of anyone using blu-ray diodes on weapons lasers yet.  Best bet for that would be to get an inexpensive red laser and swap out the diode from a DVD burner, if you swing that way.  I'm not sure there's much benefit there - the blue diodes are good for balloon popping tricks and such, but for visibility, you can't beat the green laser.
