So I was able to convert a friend over to the dark side, and am helping a friend with his first M4 config. build, and have some quick questions.
1st off, I found a really good deal on a "forged post-ban DPMS lower", however I am wondering if this will be any different that a pre-ban lower? It states is only to be used in building post-ban rifles, but I didn't know if there was a difference or not? 2nd, he wants to put a Magpul CTR stock on it, but I was unsure which parts I would need to connect it to the lower, buffer tube, spring, what else? Thanks guys! |

I don't know if MO is a ban state or not. If it isn't then the post-ban/pre-ban thing is meaningless. The only real difference between a post-ban and pre-ban lower is the date they were made. If you live in a ban state then that does make a difference legally speaking.
You'll need an endplate, castle nut, receiver extension, buffer, and buffer spring. The receiver extension (buffer tube) comes in two different sizes, commercial and mil-spec. The CTR is available in the same two sizes, so make sure you match them up. I'd recommend mil-spec as it's supposed to be a little stronger and you have a greater selection of stocks available for it. |

MO is not a ban state, so I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to be missing something on the stripped lower with a ban lower. Guess I will go ahead and pick it up!
Ok, found the end plate, a reciever extension nut (same as castle nut?), a collapsible reciever extension ($90 does that sound right?!) (this is what the buffer and buffer spring go in right?), buffer and spring so that should be all right? What is the butt stock extension tube, is it a replacement for any of the above or just an extension, as it is much cheaper that then receiver extension? |
