Why do some prefer the back connection of the sling at the front of the stock instead of the rear?

Flexibility is a large part of sling mounting, and what works for me, may not work for you.  I like using a single point sling mount off the rear of the receiver due to the way it hangs, as well as that the sling doesn't change length if I move the stock.

For 1 or 2 pt. sling - rear rec. mounts also help greatly for weak-side transitions.

This is the main reason.

I am sorry but I know it is a dumb question.  But what do you men buy “ 1 or 2 pt. sling - rear rec. mounts also help greatly for weak-side transitions.”  I just don’t know why a sling mounted to the rear receiver vs the rear stock would be better.  This is a real question not a slam so please explain it.
Thanks.

You have more freedom of movement with the rifle, making it easier for you to switch the stock to your weak side (left shoulder if you're a right handed shooter) without having to loosen the sling. If there is a blind corner or you want to rest your rifle on the left side of a tree, it might help.

I have had two co-workers get shot in the strong side arm in the last ten years.  Having the ability to transition to the weak side arm is very important to me.

Personally, I like the rear of my V-TAC 2-point sling mounted on the rear of the stock because when I let the weapon hang down and transition to to the handgun, the AR stays perfectly up and down.  I can still transition to the weakside with no probem.

When I tried to mount the rear of the sling up by where you normally mount a 1-point and I let the AR hang down and transition to the handgun, the rear of my AR wanted to go forward.
