I just bought a VTAC/Larue Tactical, 2 point padded sling with quick detach push button swivels on both ends. Where do guys usually mount the front of your sling? Towards the rear of the forend or to the traditional front of the forend? I see that Larue has it at the rear of the forend. Can you guys give me your take on which is better?

I have one of each, but I prefer rear of tube (near barrel nut)
Less chance of it getting tangled up in any lights, VFG, etc you may be using.

For MY purposes, I find close to the FSB is great for carrying more,
nearer the bbl. nut is great for basic retention/shooting more.

I set-up all my carbines with the QD point at the rear of the handguard, right infront of the bbl nut, and at the rear of the receiver.

I prefer this setup as it allows me the transition ease of a single point, but still have the control of the 2p adjustable.

Crappy photo, but it shows what i mean

Here's an old pic of my LaRue-VTAC padded sling with my Daniel Defense offset rail QD sling mount (it had been replaced with the smaller DD sling mount).

Either way is only better if it does what you want it to do, mostly I prefer to mount the front of the sling at the rear of the rail near the barrel nut so it hangs muzzle down naturally when transitioning to sidearm.

If you wanted to carry your weapon horizontally mount the sling to the front of the handguard near the front sight.
