I picked up a 2 position CAR stock, but I can't tell who the mfg is.  The only mark I see is a molded "N" when I  press the level to slide the stock from one position to the other.

Who made it?  Is it just a cheap import?  Just curious.

Can't tell for sure with out seeing it, but the "N" on the stock piece indicates that you have lucked into a Colt early stock;  second issue and first of the plastic shoulder pieces.

The two position tube is worth more than the stock piece itself.  The stock piece was standard issue up until just a few years ago, when the current "M4" type became standard.  The two position tube however was replaced by the 4 position tube quite a few years back; and the retro crowd is always on the lookout for the first issue  2 position tube.

Yup.  Colt units have the N mark where you described.
