Just ordered this yesterday

http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/psa-16-chf-300-aac-1-8-pistol-gas-sqr-13-5-without-bcg-or-charging-handle.html

while doing some research last night, I read several posts on other forums that supersonic loads should not be used in a 16" pistol gas system.  I also read several conflicting reports.  Anybody have any experience with this? Is this information correct? If so, I may try to cancel the order because I only plan on shooting supersonic loads.

I have a 16" Noveske with a pistol gas system. Have had zero issues. The pistol gas system just makes it more reliable for subs. You can't really overgass the blackout so no worries.

Aac, Noveske, and Wilson combat were all using pistol on 16" guns.

That's good to hear. I actually ordered the same upper today but was curious about the pistol length gas system. I figured it had something to do with functioning well with subsonic loads and I don't plan on using any.

I recently saw an ad for a Noveske 16" 300 BLK upper that listed the barrel as having a carbine gas, which surprised me. I thought all their 300 BLK barrels were pistol gas.

Maybe it was a typo, or maybe they're trying something new.

I got my PSA 10.5" .300 AAC upper yesterday and finished my pistol build last night.

It fired/fed BOTH 220 gr Remington subsonic and 150 gr supersonic loads just fine two hours ago.

What was the 150 grain load?

I highly doubt it'll be over gassed but you may want to consider an adjustable gas block.  Assuming that your reloading and or shooting a combination of both subs and supers you'd be able to fine tune your system for anything in between.

I have an older 16" 300BLK barrel from Noveske, and it's carbine gas. All of their new barrels, from 8.2" to 16" are pistol.
