Was going to get the Odin Adjustable gas block for my 308 but want to know if it's better to get a clamp on style as opposed to a press on? I like the clamp on gas blocks better. They hold really right and are easier to adjust and line up than the set screw type imho. Get some aquarium air tube, cut a length off about 10" long, slip the end over the end of the gas tube inside the upper receiver. If you got big fingers get someone who doesn't to do it. Only needs to be slid on about 1/4" to work. Now blow in the tube and slowly adjust the clamp-on gas block until you feel the least resistance when you blow. Tighten the bas block down hand tight then take out one of the two clamp-on screws. Put some loc-tite or rockset on it, and screw it back in and tighten it up. Then do the other screw. Doing them one at a time keeps the block from shifting. now torque the screws down to 25 in lb. and you're set. Best clamp-on gas blocks are Syrac Gen II and SLR Sentry 7. |
