| Looking for some opinions on stocks for a 308. Is the Magpul PRS AR-10 Sniper stock what everyone uses or is there something else that functions better. I realize alot of it is personal preference but would like to know what everyone is using. |

I think the PRS looks awesome for a bench gun but I wouldn't want to carry it around. I actually like the magpul fixed MOE rifle stock but I have it on an AR-15 SPR build, haven't had it on an AR-10.
It comes down to what type of AR-10 you have (carbine vs rifle) and what type of shooting your'e doing. That's what's nice about the selection and options. |
| If you are looking for something similar to the PRS but weighing a bit less I have been using thisLuth MBA Stock. It is quite similar to the PRS but weighs approximately half a pound less (companies websites say 1.26 for MBA & 1.85 for Magpul PRS). I loved my PRS but it was just too heavy. I just ordered my MBA and haven't had the chance to install it yet, but handled one at a 3 Gun match and liked it. Just something to think about in case you were really wanting to use something like the PRS. |
| I like several of the Magpul stocks, it just kind of depends on the rifle and application in each case. Whatever you get if it ends up being a collapsible, make sure you can lock the stock so it doesn't wiggle or rattle. I like collapsible stocks for perfect fit to my ergonomics or just for the particular situation at the moment...as long as they lock. My ACS Magpul is one of my favorites, but the CTR lockable looks good too. My ACS has a particularly fat cheek weld interface that I really like. This is where preference really comes into play, and it almost requires one to scour gun shops to test how the stock fits your face and shoulder. |
