| hi guys whats a good 308 in a ar 15 its for range/hunting |
| For me, one of my considerations was that I needed a rifle that would offer PREBAN hi capacity mags due to the fact I live in NY. So this meant an RRA of some sort. Last Friday I bought an RRA LAR-8 26" varmint model from a place in Tucker,Georgia. Hopefully it'll be here this week. You don't have to worry about preban mags, so it really comes down to how much you want to spend. I spent $1410 on mine out the door. That's about middle ground price wise. You can spend upwards of $3000 if you want to. Your best bet is to go to a shop that carries the major manufactures and check out the features you want for the price you want to pay. |

phantom12, I also posted an answer for you and a WELCOME! over in the Retro Forum, but with .308, you're probably going to be limited to the AR10 platform. The .308 round length is a little too long for the AR15. The magwell and mag is pretty much limited to 2.25" for good feeding.
Now, there are some interesting alternatives to .223 for the AR15 platform. You can read about them all here. |
| I like the DPMS just fine it uses magpul mags. One of my friends has an FNAR and has had very good luck with it. I had some custom work done to mine including adding a flash suppressor so it depends on what you want these things are like easter eggs you can color them a lot of different ways. |

The BEST value is an ARMALITE AR-10A4 upper... in green during the 4th of July or Christmas SALES. I picked up the U10A4F for $650.00 during the 4th Sale: http://www.armalite.com/images/Medium%20Images/U10A4%20Medium.jpg Grabbed a MagPul UBR $199 and a PRS $189 {both OD, Going Green Sale} from DSG ARMS. On Christmas Eve I snagged an U10TF for $799: http://www.armalite.com/images/Medium%20Images/U10TFMEDIUM350.jpg 762 SASS has lower receivers for $205 and LPK w/ Tactical 2-Stage trigger for $99 Slash has your buffer and spring $137 - UBR So, for around Lucky 13 {$1300.00} you'll have a rifle that will most likely be sub-MOA. What you thinking of in glass and BUIS Flips? I'm pretty sure the $99 price is for the trigger only, lower parts with standard trigger are $95, without trigger they are $59.95 but still a decent deal. |
| Got my RRA LAR-8 last November for $899 from Kygunco. Not sure if they have any sales going on at this time (have to call them). The rifle is awesome... I plan on using it for feral hogs mostly but have only been to the range up to this point. Great shooter! |
