Hello everybody, So I need some hive help with my 308 build What I have: Aero precision upper/lower combo Aero precision lpk Geissele trigger Assorted furniture etc... What I plan to get: 14.5 inch DPMS pattern Rainier Arms ultra match barrel in 14.5 Griffin Armament 30 cal flash comp gas tube etc.... SLR adjustable titanium gas block Rail: undecided either a centurion arms 14 inch cmr or an SLR 14 inch My problem: Lots of folks have been talking about using an adjustable gas block with 308's since they are so easily over gassed. This makes sense to me and I want to however I am having trouble with my rail choice/gas block combo.... I want to use the Centurion arms cmr 14 inch rail. Their website lists the inner diameter as 1.25. The SLR adjustable gas block I would like to use is listed as 1.365...So this is a no go. Option A: use SLR adjustable gas block and SLR rail and problem is solved Option B: use Centurion Arms rail and Centurion Arms gas block and pray that my gun is not over gassed. Has anybody here actually built a 308 with the centurion arms rail/gas block combo and have you had any issues? Would you do it differently if you were doing it over again? Thanks for the help |

I have never used the centurion stuff but i was just in your shoes a couple weeks ago and went with a SLR sentry 7 GB and a 15 inch Intrepid rail and so far i have no regrets and plan on using SLR for all my future builds. My opinion for you would be to go the SLR route with a Solo HG if you need the rail space you can get the rails for it based on whatever style of rail you choose keymod or mlok. Though i would add and i will try and get a picture for you in a bit but the slr rails look good on the Aero M5 sets

The first and most important questions when approaching one of these is:
What barrel and bolt will I be using? Is the chamber reamed correctly for a .308 gas gun? Is the gas port diameter correct for the range of loads or specific load I plan to shoot? Is my recoil system set up for that load range, and in the weather conditions I will be using it? Furniture and all the less important things come after that. |
