Does anyone with a CavArms, Bazooka, or AR45 think it is worth bombarding Beta with requests for a GGmag-based drum?

Unless you're FA, I can't see it really being that useful. If nothing else .45 ACP is heavy - it's the only caliber I buy that's usually not worth buying online because shipping tends to eat up any savings. So a +/-100 round drum would be a significant weight handicap.

Just my early morning take on it. What do you suppose one would cost?

I dont think its worth it. But thats my 2 cents worth.  Have you ever held a full Thompson 100 rd drum?  They are HEAVY!  Even a 50 rd is heavy.  I would think the GG mag is about max for normal shooting.  The drums are also bulky and tend  to get in the way when shooting.  In addition the drums take too long to reload IMHO.  Anyway thats my take.

I think a crew served AR45 would be kinda cool.

Well, your request is half way being done.  IIRC, I've seen 45 ACP drums for 1911's, Ruger's, Glock's and prob. other 45 cal pistols.

I think those are made by ProMag.  I don't know how the adapter is attatched to the drum, but if you wanted to 'invest' some time and money, you might be able to re-adapt a 45 40rnd drum with a GG top.

Might work with a KNS Spade Grip and a tripod.

I wish I had not seen that........

(Will it fit a AR10? )

I have been trying to get them to make drums for a couple of years. Please join me in a letter writing campaign!!! It would not only be good for those of us with AR's but also would work for the guys with 45cal MAC10's, Uzi's, UMP's, Stemples, MP5 clones and etc.

I knew it would be heavy. That is not the point. It would be fun, and it would piss off the anti's. Yes, I have held a Thompson drum. The gun itself is heavy. But would I own a TSMG? Hell yes!
We have already experienced a ban on drums and even std cap mags. I want what Hillary says we can't have.
I had forgotten about the other platforms. We should all band together and try to get another new product made for us.

There's a reason why the C drums for the Thompson never caught on.

The reason why the C drum never caught on was because they were extremely large, the operator had a hard time gripping the fore-end around the drum. The other reason was that the drums were easily damaged in combat. As far as weight issue our Grandfathers carried   much heavier weapons into combat than our current troops do. The Beta C-Drums would weight considerably less than the Thompsons C Drum and for that matter so would an AR equipped with a Beta Drum weigh less than a Thompson and C Drum.

The TSMG drums are a pain to insert into the gun too. The Betas are not.
I imagine a 45 drum would not weigh much more fully loaded than a 223 drum, but they are everywhere. They are making a 308 drum, can you imagine what that weighs?
If you don't want a drum, don't buy one.
Some of us do, and will.

Another thing, I see guys chopping the longer mags so it is easier to sit at a bench and shoot. A 45Beta would allow this with much less reloading.
Otherwise, why didn't we just make magblocks for 1911 mags in a std AR lower?
After all, they wouldn't be so heavy....

That there is an interesting idea...... Granted, the adapter would have to 'eject' with the 1911 drum due to the location of the mag catch on the 1911s.

Well, I got a reply from Beta today and they are already considering it.
Also a Sten feedtower for their 9mm drum and a FAL tower for the 308 drum.
So anyone interested, please write to them!

Well, lets see.... how many 45 ACP sub guns are out there?  There is the HK, and I'm SURE that Beta would love to make one for that.  Once they make one for the HK 45 sub gun, it's just a matter of making a tower for a GG (or anything else).  And then there is that one AR that uses Tommy gun mags (but they won't sell it to the public.)

I bought a NIB 9mm Beta C magazine with a clear back. The clear back was severly scratched when I took it out of the sealed package.

Beta would do nothing, not even send me a replacement clear back.

I don't recommend buying their products.
