I'm thinking about getting a DPMS  24" bull barrel set up.  Will the cheaper 5.56 nato rounds go through this set-up?  Their website says nothing about it being the "wylde chamber." Will it be safe to shoot the .556 stuff?  Anybody have any experience with this set-up?  Was it what you expected? Thanks in advance.

Is the rifle chambered for 5.56 or .223Rem?
What is the twist rate?

Your choice in bullet weight will have a lot to do with rifling twist rate, other than that...if its chambered for 5.56, that this the ammo you shoot.

I dont have much experience with the faster twists (1:12) however IIRC you would go with a heavier bullet. I would stay away from the cheaper Wolf ammo just due to it being underpowered and lighter.

If you are shooting 1:7 or 1:9, pretty much any standard 5.56 ammo will do the trick.
May want to post this in the ammo forum.

I think the barrel you are asking about is 223 only.Twist rate has nothing to do with the chamber. If you fire 5.56 thru a 223 chamber bad things can happen due to higher pressure of the 5.56 round.Check with DPMS and find out.

Also a part# would help.Dpms shows 3 24 inch barrels that are5.56 and only 1 24 inch in 223.If the one you have is a 5.56 you can safely fire 223 also just not the other way around.
