What kind of range and accuracy can you expect out of this caliber?  Ammo is now easily obtainable and more reasonably priced.  I am considering it for smaller varmints.

Range for 5.7 will be 200rds.  I have never fired my AR57 with magnified optics, but it does well with a red dot.  Shameless plug....I am actually selling my AR57 if you are interested.  I have 100rds fired, comes with heavy buffer, (1) 50rd mag and a PMag that I am using as a brass catcher.  PM me if you are interested.

I don't have an AR-57 upper but I do shoot the 5.7 FN round. It's good to maybe 200 yards but scope mounting on the AR-57 is an issue. Maybe if you get a good quality quick-disconnect LaRue scope mount (another shameless plug) it will work just fine for you. The problem with scopes on the AR-57 is the long top-mounted magazine must be lifted up to be removed. Too bad somebody didn't come up with a way to release the other end of the magazine so it could be slid out. As I said, I don't own one so I don't know if that could even be done.

Primary Arms compact 4X scope works good on the AR57.

What kind of lower is that, and how much does that rig weight?

+ OVER NINE THOUSAND on the PA 4x scope. Fits perfect. PA is in the process of redesigning that scope right now though, so you can't purchase one direct. You may be able to get a used one.

The biggest issue I have with my AR57 is the fact that the top rail is actually raised up a bit over a standard AR-15. It's a little tough to get a good cheek weld unless you get a stock with a vertical adjustment. I've got an ACS on mine so I pretty much get a chin weld, not cheek.

I put a 4x16 on mine while I worked up some loads.  they shoot well  35 gr Vmax and 40 gr Vmax both shoot 1MOA +/-  I have used it for whacking squirrels..............Planning a Bunnny hunt later in the fall.

I just purchased one and have a set of MBUIS I am going to throw on but I was debating a T1 and Larue mid mount, but I was looking at the differnce on photos between the AR57 and the std 5.56 upper and noticed it looked a little taller... by any chance, you wouldn't know "how much" taller would you? If so it would allow me to place the T1 and mid mount on order now for it. Thanks in advance.

Well my 57 upper just made it, measured using a stanley tape measure so its not "exact" but close enough for .gov work... The 5.56 upper from bottom to top ot top rail is 1 7/8" the AR57 is 2 1/4" so 3/8" higher... just incase anyone else ever search's this out... Think I am going to run an aimpoint T1 on Larue mid mount... the MBUIS will be here tomorrow for me to atleast try it out... cant wait.
