A little off track from the original post but I have a quick question on that upper.
Since that one has been refinished. How would one know if that was an original 601? What would be the difference between that and a worked over early 604? Is there any feature to a 601 that can't easily be replicated? |

I'm really sorry I did my original 601 upper in Norrells to match my lower. Anyone know how to get Norrells off without ruining the finish below? |

That barrel and upper was posted in the EE before it went to GB.

Maybe try lightly hitting it with some 0000 steel wool and oil. Guys do that with their Russian capture P38's that had been painted. I don't know how well it would work on Norrells but maybe worth a try????? |

I think that upper has the original finish. (No that one is not mine)
I have several of the 601 uppers and have seen both the smooth gray and a more textured, dark anodizing. The dark, rough version has a surface harder than hell! I think Ekie also had one he thought was refinished, till he sent it to US anodizing and they said it was original. |

No offense to anyone who is selling 601 uppers or 1/14 twist barrels, and a seller is always free to list for whatever they want the item to sell for, but $2K for one of these is way out of line with market value.
I think someone could reasonbly ask maybe $500-600 for the barrel, and $650-$800 for a complete period correct 601 upper (on the higher end if they can show it is all original, not one assmbled from original parts), but even when 1/14's are rare, they aren't exactly the same as say original XM607 stocks or the like. Everything save for the barrel itself is not difficult to obtain. |

I had contacted Victor @ US Anodizing a while back about this. They can remove Norrells and re-anodize, but I'm not sure if they can remove Norrells without harming the underlying finish. Not so sure about the process. |

VP 1/12 barrels going for $600? Hell, my VP 1/12 is mounted on an upper and routinely gets shot!
Sadly, a great deal of the populartiy of retro stuff + a limited market of original parts = raise in prices. We all knew it was coming, at least most of us got in early on when pricing was still 'that is old junk, take it off my hands' And I will still stand by my statement that 1/14 601 uppers are not worth $2000. If they were, you would see any of them priced in that range moving right away. The two I am aware of have not had any interest. Sellers can ask wahtever they want, but true value is based on what people are actually willing to pay! |

I really wonder how much I could get out of my 601. Not that I'd sell it. But man, the way these prices are, I could probably get $3000
Not to mention it's on a Colt lower... Didn't you get $200 for the sight wheel? or was that some one else? Indeed I did |
