How long are the three flat  areas above the charging handle? Thinking about trying to back date a 604 to a  601 and need to know the dimensions .
Thanks

don't know how long the rear flat is, but I recall the two sides are cut at a 45 degree angle.

so I would say do the sides first, then just take off enough of the rear to remove the curve.

On my 601,the 2 side flates read  0.224,,the back flate reads  0.265  using digital calipers
On my 602 the sides read  0.240,,,and the back reads  0.250
ETA I do NOT believe these will be exact from rifle to rifle. My 601 cuts do not look real precise,,not like a hand file was used, but not a precision piece of work either. The numbers above are as close as I personally can see using magnifying reading glasses,,and will add I'm sure there is a percentage of error from receiver to receiver.

Just a usless tip.I modded an NDS 604 upper for a friend and what I did was measure my 601 from the inside edge of the charging handle slot on the sides to the 1st angle. Then took the back flat measurement and centered it on the back and drew 2 pencil lines. Then filed from the pencil line on the back to the measured line on the side.Did this on both sides,,the filed the back conecting the dots so to speak..Does this make sense? If no,I'll mock up what I did and send pics.

The flats on the 601 upper I had were not symmetrical - looked like they had been stuck up against a grinder or something for a second on either side - kinda sloppy-like.
