So I am close to haveing all my parts for my build. The only parts i need are the LPK, buffer and spring and my flash supressor. Now im sure alot of guys would say just use the lpk trigger but i would like to put a good trigger. Nice crisp pull good break and a decent weight.
What would you guys recommend?. Should i put a geissele or is there any good ones. Im not looking to shoot match but i want to max my accuracy. |

Do you plan to paint the furniture? I've considered more than once building a 601 with mostly new parts but the FSB always changes my mind. I just got some RAW painted handguards in today, they look great and for a very reasonable price! |

there options like sending out a forged fsb to get squared off or a Olympic cast fsb. Quoted:

I've toyed with the idea of having JT smooth a forged FSB but it still doesn't totally look the part. Maybe one day. |

Geissele is about as good as they get. Lots of different flavors also. RRA two stage pretty decent for the coins and really good with a little work. Depends on what you want to invest. Doubt with the LW barrel you're gonna see any real magic with the FCG but every little bit helps and LW barrels are decent especially if one maintains barrel temps. Find the sweet spot and keep it there for best results generally. The better FCG's usually add consistency.
Most all the quality LPK single stage stuff works pretty well with a little work. Lots of quality FCG's out there today that are better than standard LPK pieces if one can't do the work. By the time you pay someone to do one for you the Geissele looks better all the time but 2X RRA costs. Most all of the Geissele's were on sale for Easter from $170-225. Don't know about this week. Memorial day will quickly be upon us and usually lots of sales. |

Nothing against high-end triggers (I own a couple Geissele's and a drop-in Chip McCormick that I love), but to be honest, a stock GI trigger can be tuned to work very well for all the shooting most of us do. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of people I'd want to pay to tune one. The ones who really know what they're doing don't work cheap, and the ones who work cheap ain't gonna be working on anything I expect to count on.
Assuming you aren't a triggersmith yourself (or you wouldn't be asking the question), then you might look at ALG Defense--a "sister company" to Geissele ("ALG" is Amy Lynn Geissele, Bill's wife). Their "mil-spec" trigger is basically a cleaned up, inexpensive, GI design. It may not be master-gunsmith good, but if you know how to shoot, you won't have the trigger to blame misses on. For around $50, it's a damn good bargain, and a side benefit is it looks right on a retro rifle. Plus, if you get one, use it a while, and decide you still want a $200 trigger, you can easily sell the ALG for close to what you paid. Whatever you use, we look forward to seeing the build! |
