I know a slick side upper would do, but has anyone tried to belt sand a forward assist off of an A1 upper and plug the hole to create a 605 upper? I'm gonna see if Slim will give me a deal on one of his real crappy A1 uppers to try this out.

what about a sp1 upper and remove forging marks?

I would hate to grind on a nice original Colt part, if I was going to go that route, I would probably order an NDS or get a Fultons slick side.

And I never thought about welding the drain hole shut on my faux five project. Thanks a lot, Dude!

I broke a M16A1 upper and Braceman welded it back and milled the FA off. I made a 605 .22
