Does anyone think it would be possible to make a 606 clone using a modern HBAR barrel and an M60 bipod? Is there any way an M60 bipod could be attached to the HBAR? This is just an idea I've been kicking around in my head...

Taper pins possibly? Welding?

There was an artical a long time ago in a Firepower magazine article where a guy did just that. HHe got a hold of a fluted 20" heavy barrel and used a bushing for the barrel just ahead of the FSB. He drilled and tapped the M-60 bipod and placed an allen wrench set screw(s)? in it and attached it to the barrel bushing. He put a ninety round mag in it and went to town. This paticular build was full auto, (pre '86).
If you buil;d one you might want to put a hydraulic buffer in, sounds like a lot of fun.

Thanks Frens! Now how would I go about doing the same type of thing? I dont have the equipment to press it on. But maybe I could do the set screw thing. But how solid would it be? I'd kinda be worried about it coming off...

There is a part that presses on behind it that I don't have that keeps it from rotating. I have not had a problem without it though. I found a brand new in the box Colt LMG that had this same bipod not istalled but delivered. From what I could gather on the internet, there were about 200 of these made. If anyone has more info. I would also appreciate it.
