What's the odds of ever coming across an original 607 barrel? besides slim to none I mean.
So.......barring a miracle and finding an original, what would be the closest "clone" I might come up with? |

Dawg180,
Yeah, I can turn/thread/chamber any barrel blank that would make a good barrel. I've got a couple 16" Colt carbine barrels, from Sp1 carbines. Kinda hate to cut them even though I bought them for possible 607/xm177 use. Now that I've collected them I don't really want to chop them. I have a few other barrels, takeoffs from Highpower Comp rifles, that would each make two 10" carbine barrels. They are stainless though and I would have to "coat" it somehow to match the parkerizing of the other steel components. The biggest problem of cutting a 16" carbine barrel or turning a blank would be trying to duplicate the M and vp proof marks......assuming I'd go to that trouble to duplicate. |

on another note concerning duplicating/cloning a 607 barrel....... anyone have any experience with Norrell's Moly Resin? I was wondering which color would be the best match for a 607 barrel? No color is going to really look like parkerizing IMHO. I would just send it to John Thomas for a proper gray park, he does excellent work and a reasonable price. |

Personally I wouldn't worry about markings, seeing as the original barrels are 10" the marks would have to be under the HGs and not visible anyway. That being said, I would not hesitate to chop one of those 16" SP1 carbine barrels for such a project. |
