I have found one source that said some early 607 were built on 601 slick side lowers any one else ran across that?  I have a spare 601 lower I would SBR and use on my 607 build rather than waiting to get another XM16E1 lower.

TBR pg 177

The "prototype" 607 was made from a 601 lower, triangle charging handle, duckbill flashhider, and cut down A1 handguards that use the rear half, instead of the front.

Which I actually like better in practice. This surprised me because I have relatively small hands, but I like them better truthfully.

Does anyone make triangular caps that would fit on the large half cut-down?

Also if you haven't noticed after sustained fire the extra air gap is very welcome.

I have a couple samples the right size I would be happy to share as models as long as I get them back.

The wait begins on the BATFE going to SBR 601 lower and use it for my 607 project. Thanks Morg308 I love the way people in the retro forum are willing to help total strangers with loan or gift of parts.
