Just curious but why is the Colt 6920 seem to be more popular than other Colt models? Is it only because it's the closest a to a M4 or are there other reasons? If you could only own one Colt other than the 6920 what would it be?

-Please don't start any brand wars as I am ONLY curious as it relates to the different Colt models. Thanks!

A lot of people like it because it is about the closest you can get to an M-4 without going SBR/NFA (if I am not mistaken, Colt even calls it a "Law Enforcement M-4" and it is marked "M-4" on the upper receiver).

I think that's mainly it for most people.

well most people probaby dont want an a2 upper. (6520)
Most people probably dont want a hbar (6721)

The 6920 has a flat top, gvt profile barrel, 1/7 twist and is just bad ass.

I want one of each.

I like the 6721 more.  The roll mark is better to look at for me.  It actually has AR-15A3 on it.

I can rebarrel an upper, I can't change rollmarks.

I can only tell you my reasons for going with the 6920.

16" barrel, I think is just the right size.

1 in 7 barrel twist improves accuracy.

5.56 (NATO) chamber which also allows use of 223 remington ammo. while the 223 does not allow use of the 5.56.

A3 upper.

No, not really. it just allows you to shoot cartridges with heavier projectiles like 77 grain mk262.

I like all the Colts, although the 6520 would be my next choice for it's simplicity and light weight. Plus 6520 also has "AR-15 A2  Gov't Carbine" rollmarks and also a 1/7 twist chrome bore barrel with M4 feedramps. I think I'll be using the 6721 I have coming in for predator / coyote type hunting, even though I don't hunt much I wanted to get every Colt LE model before the politicians trample our rights.

I want one . Thanks for the responses everyone....looks like my original assumption was right and it seems it's mostly due to it being the closest to an M4. I still wouldn't mind having any of them though
