i have  some cash and have decided on a 6.5 grendel upper. i in intend to use it as a dmr or spr or whatever
so the questions i have are as follows.

i have a regular lower for 556 with a commercial style m4 stock. will it be enough for the 6.5 grendel

and would a sixteen inch barrel be enough to reach out and touch somebody when shtf

It'll work on your lower, no problem.

As far as SHTF scenarios go, in that unlikely of situations, would you really wanna be lugging around a rifle with a round that's not readily available in any quantity? Do you see a need to reach out and touch people that you may not know of their intentions, much less with a carbine?

I'm MOA at 300yds with my 6.8.  I'm sure a good 6.5 would be better at even longer distance.  SHTF shots will probably not be that far.  In a SHTF situation I'd feel good with my 5.56 or 6.8.  Keep plenty of ammo on hand no matter what you choose.
