Hey guys, just ordered my lower for my 6.8 SPC build. This is going to be a precision/hunting build. I plan on getting a bipod and mounting a scope. A FSB is optional. I am looking at this complete upper:

However, being the noob that I am, I am a little overwhelmed by the choices available.

Can anyone  give me a good run down on these items?

1) What are all those muzzle devices for? Can I get a pro/con on some of this? Whats your choice and why?

2) What is stake carrier option?

3) What does a pinned gas block give you?

4) What gas block would be best for my stated application?

Sorry guys, but a lot of this is new to me and I want to make an informed decision.

ETA: Got some good info off their site.  Still interested in opinions though.

Some stop muzzle climb....some diminish flash......

2) What is stake carrier option?

It's spec to stake the carrier key.
Y/M does not stake.

3) What does a pinned gas block give you?

Pinned is more secure than set screws or clamps.
All work.

4) What gas block would be best for my stated application?

Probably a low pro.

Open a Google search box.
Type in your key word.
Choose "Images"

Now you are doing an Image search which can often be more informative than a simple search.
All your questions have been asked thousands of times, so there is lots of data to search.

Pinned gas block = won't work loose.  Never had a problem with a non pinned but less likely with pinned.

I would get a low profile pinned block.  That way if you desire a longer rail or free float tube you won't have to replace or modify your gas block.

Edit :

I've never dealt with him, but Ben @ Bison is said to be extremely helpful in explaining all the different options he offers.
Give him a call.

A staked carrier is a reliable carrier - an unstaked one is going to eventually get you in trouble.

Another reliablity option.

There really is no 'best' just preferences.  Make sure the block is steel, and if you don't want a front sight then I'd suggest a low profile one that can fit under a free-float rail - but that is my preference
