Just curious if the SSA ammo requires one of the many trigger groups which carry a "heavier" hammer spring?  I am leaning towards a Timney 3lb.  Currently I have the Geiselle SSA and wanted to lighten up my pull a bit. Just concerned about reliabilty.

No problems with the stock triggers tuned to 4 lbs. by B Springfield and using SSA ammo. Four different lowers.

They use mil-spec primers with a harder cup.  There is always the potential for a light strike if you reduce the hammer spring weight.  A lighter hammer MAY offset the lighter spring because of reduced lock time.  Try it out and see if you have problems.

I have the heavier National Match weight Geiselle in my 6.8.  I have the Geiselle DM in my 5.56.  I'm a safety& reliability nut so I'm willing to trade off accuracy.  I figured the heavier recoil and military primers pushed me to the NM trigger in the 6.8.  When I installed it, I was surprised how smooth the NM trigger is.  Says a lot for Geiselle.

There are a number of people with light hammer springs who have had problems setting off the hard primers.

SSA has switch recently to commercial primers because of weapons that are not to Mil––Spec. If you purchase ammo from Calibela's, Cheaper Than Dirt, Sportsman, or Midway you will get commercial primers. We will be changing the web-site so you have an option on primer type. Currently there is a question asking if you have a TC you can answer yes and you will get the commercial primers if you answer no you will get Mil-Spec primers, so us this for now to get commercial primers. We will be changing the site to make it easier on check out.

Thanks all! Guess I will stick to my Geiselle SSA then!  No complaints about the trigger...just thought I would lighten it up a little since this is a "hunting" gun.  I too would rather not experiment with trigger groups if I know the one I have already will set any 6.8 ammo off I put in my gun.  If the SHTF, I want a workhorse...not a conditional ammo finicky gun.
