Just got a new stripped lower.  typical 5.56 lower.  Curious to know if I can use this for a 6.5 or 6.8 build.  Any information would be helpful as I'm inexperienced with the 6.5 and 6.8 builds and the variants section is full of 308/7.62 build info.

to do a 6.8 on a 5.56 lower is easy, you only need a 6.8 barrel (preferably with a SPCII or DMR chamber, M4 ramps, and a 1/11 or 1/12 twist), a M4 ramped upper to install it in, a 6.8 bolt (uses a standard carrier), and a 6.8 magazine and you're GTG

I have done a few and they are alot of fun

That's what I wanted to hear.  I assume this means the magazines for a 6.8 will fit the same.  It's a toss up between a 6.8 and a pistol build.

Been looking at the same type of build. Am registering the lower as an sbr so I can go with a 8-10" barrel though. The hard part (no real surprise) has been finding a barrel I like. Have you looked at the LWRC piston uppers? They are expensive but you only live once.

I built a 6.5 Grendel for whitetail deer hunting using a standard 5.56 DPMS lower, RRA LPK with JP Enterprises 4lb springs/anti-walk pins, and J&T 20" upper with HBAR.  Works fine, but too heavy for me (old dude).  Had Steve at ADCO turn the barrel down to lightweight, then POI was affected by pressure on handguards, so swapped out standard handguards with Hiperform carbon fiber FF tube.  She's nice and light and shoots to POA now, tight too...1/2 MOA with handloads.  Now building up a STAG lower so I have a "deer" rollmark on my deer slayer.  BRD...always tweaking.

Is it legal to build anything besides a 2.23/5.56 on a lower marked 5.56?
