I have a very early A2 grey upper with a rebated front lug and I want to build a clone XM4 or 727.
What lower would be more appropriate, an A1 profile or an A2 profile lower?

When I got ready to build my 727, I was wondering the same thing. It seems like most of the Model 727s had A1 lowers. I used this as a reference for mine.

The 727/XM4 was sort of a transitional model (pre-dating the M4) that was very similar to the late Model 723. The main difference being the upper receivers.

Awesome!! That means I have all the parts except a flash hider and peal washer. This build will be done very soon. Thanks for the help.

The XM4 should have an A2 profiled lower.

The RO727 could have either an A1 or A2 lower, and there wasn't a whole lot of rhyme or reason to which one you would end up with, so both would be correct.

That one looks like the XM4 I built!
