On to other things........Model 1 or some other company in SGN sells a 7.62x39 chambered complete upper for an AR type rifle.....I know Colt made a sporter version chambered in this. Is it possible to swap this out on a regular rifle.....without any other mods....?   I have a SKS and the rounds are similar.  I have also seen the off brand mags.......If no other mods are required, do the 7.62 mags fit in the mag well......with out a modification????

And please, if you are the most knowledgeable person on this subject, please preface your post as such, state "I am the most Knowledgable person on this subject".....as I need to acknowledge the FACT........in later posts.....I think.....or maybe sooner, I guess.....Have a Nice Day....

I found this little note on the Olympic website. Hope it helps.

"Important note: Olympic Arms does not manufacture, stock or sell 7.62x39 magazines for the AR-15 style weapon. All complete guns are provided with a 10 round .223 caliber magazine that will work with the 7.62x39 cartridge, but only when loaded to 3 or 4 rounds maximum. Actual 7.62x39 Ar-15 style mags are available as after market components, but are hard to find, usually expensive, and often unreliable. We do not guaranty or recomend any specific brand of aftermarket magazine for this caliber."

DaBunny posted the biggest problem: mag availability.  Expect to pay $75+ for a 30-round USA mag up to $150+ for a G-Tech, if you can find them for sale at all.  Yes, these prices are 5-7 times what they cost in 1994, but since few were made before the ban, but lots of 7.62x39 uppers were made before AND after the ban, supply is extremely low and demand is high.
