I just wanted to know what are some good known jigs out there?

This is one of the Jigs i used : https://newfrontierarmory.com/shop/80-ar-15-lower-completion-jig/
and another is from a rockethub crowd funding.  The jig is absolute crap. the top plates does not line up at all.

The New Frontier Armory jig semi-works with some modification. I had to modify the side plate to fit the lower in it by milling a dimple for the selector bump to fit in to. Then the bolt that goes through the trigger hole area needed to be redrilled to fit as it interferes with the back of the trigger.

when the top shelf of the Trigger pocket needs to be milled out the take down pin bolt needs to be removed so that you dont mill in to the bolt. but when in the vise it will be off.

So I am just looking for a quality jig that that is known to work with Forged 80% and Billet 80% lowers.

Please let me know what is out there. I know there is the easy jig but I will be using a Mill to finish up the lower and not a router.

THANKS EVERYONE!

Just to clarify, our jig is made for our 80% billet lower and fits it just fine.

It has cut outs for the safety bumps as well, so that should not have been an issue when using an in spec forged lower.

We're looking at making a mod to the bolt hole that goes through the trigger pocket so it will work with other billet lowers besides ours as well.

Sorry about that. I meant to say the other jig i had to mill a pocket for the safety bumps and the new Frontier one has the bolt interfering with the back of the trigger guard.

No sweat, just had the guys at the machine shop change the location for me in the program, so the next batch will be good to go with forged and billet.

We appreciate the feedback!

Here are a few ideas for either a new jig or to modify your jig, yes it will be more expensive BUT it will separate you from the other 500 jig manufacturers.....

1. - Manufacture it with 1" thick side plates out of either steel or aluminum with Drill Bushings on BOTH sides. This will ensure that you know it's lined up and the drill  bits are going in STRAIGHT.

2. - Have a Top Plate that you insert AFTER machining the FCG Pocket out, it would be for the Trigger guard cut, BUT would extend to almost the bottom of the FCG Pocket to make sure the cutter doesn't walk / wander where it shouldn't be.

3. - For the trigger and hammer holes, have the jig holes at .154", that allows them to be reamed to finish size of either .155 or .156

4. - Consider offering it with an optional large top plate so a router can be used, (yes it's been done but there is ALWAYS room for improvement)

These changes would make for the ULTIMATE 80% Jig. Yes, you would have to charge more but it would be more than worth it .

I bought a Modulus Arms package deal a few days ago and it showed up today. I am going to do a full write up on it soon. From the research I did theres is the best and easiest I could find.

If you have a milling machine you don't need a jig. The prints for AR lowers are available on line.

and if you don't a jig is ggreat

My favorite Jig so far just for how it goes together is the Ares, I also have an unknown aluminum jig that has a top plate with holes set for drilling it out with a drill press. less Optimal but I have seen similar jigs used to good effect here

I bet you will. Do you think everyone here is too stupid to figure out you are a shill?

Im using a Grizzle G0704 Mill. I just prefer to use a jig until I'm comfortable with doing with out one.

Same here, I use my TM sideplate for milling, works great. I like the sideplates for drilling those important holes in the side. But I don't use the top plates anymore. I do have DRO's on my mill, but with the jig plates it's just turn the unit on it's side and drill it. And I am planing on making a few of my own master side plates for triple checking my DRO's. although i did do a Zero last year and it worked out fine, on that one i used the same jig plates for the FCP holes.
Have fun.
