Where can I get some 80% lowers for a reasonable price?
100 bucks is a screw job, esp considering I my last lowers were 83 bucks each in quanity.

<ETA> O.K., where are the 20 % lowers...

That's about as cheap as they get, unless you want to go the 10% or 0% route.  0% usually are around $25 or so, and 10% are somewhere around $50-60 if I remember correctly.

yup and the cost to mill them out and adnoize them just drives the price up further.  Really building from forgings is for the experience, not to save money.  They also just have the added advantage of sticking it to the man because they don't have a SN on them and you can mark them however you want.

Do a search on "Tanneryshop"

THe price would only be a "screw job" if you compare it to the price of finished lowers that are completed by the hundreds (ie large batches).

Market for 80% is tiny by comparison, thus costs are higher.  Just try taking a 0% foging to your local machine shop and ask how much they'd charge to take one single lower to 80% for you (guestimate: several hundred $$$).

Its the same with "home made beer" (and YES - IT IS LEGAL TO MAKE YOUR OWN BEER AT HOME!!!) - you are not going to save money over the companies that brew a million gallons at a time.

The big manufacturers refuse to make 80% available to us (please correct me if I am wrong).  IF they opt to change that policy, then yes, you might see 80% for LESS than 100% lowers. Until then, the price of admission for an 80% is whatever the manufacturer decides to charge & what you are willing to pay.

But fact is, most guys are too frightened or too unskilled to complete their own lower.
