This might have been hashed over before but I don't remember it.

Are the drilled/machined holes in a 80% lower prone to high wear and short service life? I'm being told without the hard anodize the trigger and hammer pins holes left raw will wear out, get sloppy,  very quickly. Anyone here have a high round count on a 80% and pin holes still tight?

I've shot a couple thousand with my lower with zero signs of wearing out. All I did was paint it. No hard ano

have one with over 10K rounds on it and it showing no more wear than others.

If you are worried about it, anodize it. My friends and I all type II anodize ours, so no, they don't wear out.

As for type III vs type II: If type II is done well you can not distinguish from type III without lab equipment.
People who say "It has to be type III or it's no good" don't know what they're talking about.

I bought an anodized 80% since I did not want to send it out to be anodized... I did however use KNS pins for the FCG to stabilize the stress to the bare finish of the drilled hammer & trigger pin holes.

That really depends on how well you made it to start with . . . .

So asking people this question doesn't get you anywhere.  If they did a poor job and get 1000 rounds before it starts to go south is not indicative of one that was well made to begin with.

QFT. I've made a few minor errors on a few 80%s, but to make sure it does last all of mine minus a few clones that barely ever see the range get a drop in trigger pack (i.e., something from CMC, Timney, Velocity, etc.) and KNS pins, so there really isn't any wear on the trigger/hammer holes at all. May be overkill, but I sleep better at night
